i'm sure this has been discussed on here somewhere but,i found a couple of turbo kits while searching the web and was wondering what amount of boost can i run on a stock jdm sr20?i'm not looking for anything spectacular, just enough to keep up with other cars that are boosting round here, and to get some better times at the track when i get a chance to go back.

Too much boost won't kill the motor. Too much horsepower will.

Stock SR20DE can handle 9psi - I ran this setup on the stock compression. See www.abnormala.com if you dont believe me.
27psi max on the stock rods with forged pistons if you have enough fuel and spark. you will need a MSD6 and use your stock plug wires. Got this info from a Mike Kojima write up.
What turbo are you going to use?

depends on your fuel setup and turbo. you can make 400+whp on a jdm de with proper tuning. as for a psi you can run 12psi on pump gas and some times more depending on the turbo. the stock head gasket is good for 20-22psi.

Personally I couldnt go higher than 9psi and then I would get detonation. My compression was stock and I was using 444cc GTiR injectors with fuel pressure on 3bar at idle. Nice to know that it can ggo higher with the little problems sorted.

I run 10 psi all day on 9.5 to 1 compression but I do have a bluebird block with 91 octane. I have hit 11.5+ at the track with a little 101 trick and 91 mix.

i believe you,i have faith in these motors.i was looking at the TSI kit, that comes with a t25 w/internal wastegate, but i'm still looking around to see whats out there.like i said i'm not trying to go to crazy on boost and HP,just want enough to do some damage to the competion.can anybody recomend a good kit?the TSI kit comes with either a fuel block with 2 extra injectors and a controller,or i can get an AFC II,boost controller and gauge,my choice on which one i want for optimum fuel delivery and what not.but thanks for all the help,i didn't think there would be this many replies in such little time.also i am running a ps header, which i know i'm not gonna need anymore, and a hks cat back exhaust

Turn it up until it explodes, then turn it down the next time.

ok so i was looking around for a less expensive turbo kit and checked out jgy,his kit has everything that the other kit has except for a fuel delivery package.my question is,can i make this kit work with an apexi afc ?or would i still need to get a jwt ecu as recomended?i just don't feel like waiting 6 months to get the ecu tuned.
