Maybe not. I had this same problem with bad struts, and my hatch still would not open with new ones. You have to find the 2 bolts holding the latch in place (under some black trim), loosen them and adjust the latch until it works good. You should have to move it down. Search, you will find a more detailed answer.
walrusx4 02-18-2006, 11:59 PM ^^^^ Ditto, adjust the two *Nuts* and don't over tighten them, they'll break the studs.
Taiden 02-19-2006, 01:01 AM Just ordered some, I'll let you guys know what I think. :biggthump

Exactly. Even if your Hatch Struts ARE indeed dead (like mine are) your trunk should still pop when you use the remote opener in the car. Then all you have to do is get out of the car and pull the truck open and hold it up with one hand while trying to grab what your trying to get out of the trunk with the other...
Serban 02-20-2006, 12:04 AM Hey guys, check your local Auto Zone stores, I got mine from there at $33 each, no shipping necessary.

In addition to new hatch struts, go to HomeDepot and get some "Grippers". They're little rubber circles about an 1/8" thick that are designed for the bottom of furniture legs and such. Stick them just above the tail lights on the little round sections on each side of the hatch. They also keep the hatch from rattle if you're running a stiff suspension. They're basically poor man's bump stops and add spring so the remote latch works correctly. It was probably the easiest and least expense fix I've done to my NX. I'm proud to say my little trick is still working after a year. :biggthump
Edit: Do they have HomeDepot in Australia? If not any home improvement store should have something similar.

I got some for my Dad's NX from Auto Zone and they weren't even close to fitting, something about the way the head that attaches to the hatch itself is oriented. I even grinded off some stuff from the OEM struts to put on the new ones and they still didn't work. I forget exactly what it was (about a year ago), but they sucked, so be careful when ordering. I took them back and they tried to put it on but couldn't either. They checked the part # and they said it was correct.
Please let us know how the ebay ones fit, I might have to order an extra set if these things work well.
