I would go, but I gotta fly out to the west coast for a few weeks. And that is gonna kill my vacation time.

Depends on when you KC guys leave, and make it through STL. I'm planning on leaving Wed. morning and driving about 12 hours or so.

Side note: I would recemmend not staying anywhere else other than the Embassy Suites. 1/2 of the fun occurs there, and they have free happy hour and breakfast - well worth it. Better to cram 4 people in 1 room than save $20 somewhere else. ;)

I totally agree. We stayed 4 to a room last time, and it was definetly worth it.

I'd like to go, but I would have to ride instead of drive.

Flying plus rental car is pricey, and my figures for fuel bill and track expenses would break the bank if I took my car. Splitting lodging and gas with someone else could work for me, though.

If somebody has room for a passenger and doesn't mind hauling me around all weekend, I can get you back with gas money and elite tire-changing skills.

I live about 10 minutes from Missouri, and I'm well-travelled. :D

In ancient KC-area SE-R history, I kicked the idea of a KC meet (had some family there), and SE-R List old-timer Brad Woolworth ran with it and started the KCSERCA list and organized the first real meet (http://serjimr.tripod.com/kcgeekout.html). It has kind of been my "home krew" since then.

Still nobody getting in? I think Brad fell off the face of the earth.

JoshWell put. Besides, driving from KC, hotel will only be a small part of your expense. Fuel is the budget eater :)

As much fun as we had in Birmingham, I felt real bad when KC fell through for Brad. He was SOOOO excited about organizing a convention. He really hooked us up and was the person who got all of us used to the Embassy Suites atmosphere! What ever happened to him? You guys need to go to his house and drag him to this convention for old times' sake!

As far as the ES goes, definitely stay there. You'll feel like an outsider the next morning when someone references something that happened last night and you're not 'in the know' :)

BTW, I won't be making it out this year. I've already burned too much vacation time. Besides, my turbo project won't be ready either.
