Not sure about this one...

Would you be able to install a set up pistons and rods from the bottom of the cylinder, rather than through the top? Is there any particular reason for installing the pistons from the top, with the head off?

Someone asked me that, and I wasn't too sure how to respond.

any ideas?

I believe GP did it from the bottom with the block still in the car... IIRC.

I know it is common on other engines, but I thought I read on here sometime that the bores in the SR20 taper a small amount and the pistons have to come out the top - I don't know for certain, just repeating what I *believe* I read (very well could be wrong).
