My nitrous install is almost done, i snuck in some wrench time last night, and its coming along great. All I've got left is wiring, and installing my purge solenoid.
Problem is, the purge didn't come w/ any instructions, and i'm at a loss. Its got a male-male adapter, a small metal ferral, a metal tube and some kind of nut that will screw onto the adapter. its also got some weird blue piece, with a male fitting on one end. i don't have a clue how to put this thing together. Anyone ever installed a purge before? its an NX purge if it matters. TIA

Jon--
You can see my purge solenoid (although it is NOS brand) in the pic of my solenoid mounting:

I would imagine (but am not sure) that the NX setup is pretty similar to the NOS setup. So, I'll give you my thoughts as to what-is-what...
-If you look in that pic above, you'll see the male-to-male connector basically connects your purge solenoid to your nitrous solenoid. The purge solenoid goes in front (or before) the regular nitrous solenoid, btw.
-The 'weird blue piece' wouldn't happen to have a screen on one end and a AN or pipe thread on the other would it? If so, that's your nitrous filter. Again...that's on a NOS brand setup. Just a guess.
-The small ferrule is what compresses and holds the compression fitting (probably small and circular) to your purge tube (the metal tube that exits outside the car). Slide compression fitting over tube....slide ferrule over tube...and it should work. The ferrule goes *under* the compression fitting on NOS kits, YMMV.
Probably not of much help, but at least some thoughts.

Out of all, depending on the temperature, you'd probably get the most performance gains out of a warmer. Keeping the bottle pressure between 900 and 1100 psi is of the upmost importance to the nitrous system.
Next would be the purge. After you open the bottle, the line fills with nitrous. As it sits in the line, it can leak a little, and eventually its more gas than it is liquid. The purge just vents all this gaseous nitrous out of the line, and draws more liquid nitrous up to the solenoids. It will give you that "sledge hammer" shot of nitrous.
A bottle opener (although I own one) is just fluff. If you don't mind opening the bottle before you get into the car, then its useless. And definatly not worth the $200 price tag.

that looks very similiar to my equipment

I don't understand why you'd connect the purge to the fuel solenoid? Wouldn't that purge gas? My nitrous solenoid has a purge outlet, but its a male connector, so I can't figure out how to connect it to my purge. Now that I think about it, i wonder if i could just screw the purge solenoid onto the fitting. Never crossed my mind, but i'll check it out tonight.

Its really odd, it only has a male fitting on one end, and the other end is closed. It has a vent that comes out at a 90degree angle near the other end. It came w/ the purge, so I don't think its the nitrous filter. I've heard lots of mention of nitrous filters, but as far as i can tell, i don't have one. How important is it?

thats how i had it assembled, but the metal tube will still slide right out, IIRC. i'll check again tonight.

you underestimate yourself, i think you've been of more help than you realize! i don't know how i would have gotten as far as i have w/o your help! lol - thanks again. i love owning my sentra more and more every day :)

I made a mistake in my wording in the original post. 'Fuel solenoid' should have been 'nitrous solenoid'. Sometimes, I type too fast.
I went in and edited the original for future readers' sake. :)
As for the blue piece....now that you've described it more, it *sounds like* an attachment for the purge vent line, to join it to the nitrous purge solenoid. Look at mine above. The purge solenoid is the horizontal one. The vent tube comes out via a 90-degree fitting. So, that might be it.
Wish I had more experience with NX setups...

I think thats it. I just can remember if the blue piece has threads in the other hole. i'll check it out tonight. so close i can almost smell the nawwwwwws ;)
