Hello list. I'm thinking about getting new suspension for the nx2000. Has anyone had experience putting on Tokico Illuminas on their NX2000? Are they superior to the kyb agx's?
Does anyone know of a reputable vendor???
Thanks in advance..

Tokico doesn't make Illumina's for our cars... Unless you're talking about the non-adjustable Tokico's, in which case stay away from them if you'll be using lowering springs or coilovers. They are good for OEM replacements, but that's about it.

Now, *if* Tokico does make an Illumina strut for our cars, one could assume they would be as good as a KYB AGX, though I would love to see a shock dyno comparison of the two.

Tokico doesn't make Illuminas for our cars. If they did, I'm sure they would be good. Their applications for other cars are very good.

What Tokico does make for our cars are CRAP. Stay far, far away.

Go with AGX. I have GABs, which are essentially the same thing, but more expensive. AGXes weren't available when I got mine.

Not for nothing Andrew but the NX2000 looks like it is holding the turn better than the 200SX. Kind of like the BMW2002 vs a 320i. Same engine essentially, but the older out handles the newer.

Heh, Ian... I must point out that both cars have different suspension setups. The 200SX just has GC coilovers (350f/300r) on KYB AGX shocks, while the NX has GC coilovers (450f/375r) on Koni 8611 dual adjustable shortened struts. Not to mention the NX was turning through a flat sweeper while the 200SX was turning through an elevation-changing, decreasing radius hairpin. The picture of the 200SX was taken during my 3rd track event (beginner/intermediate group) while the pic of the NX was taken at the most recent track event I attended (advanced group). :D

Owell...I think from what you all are saying I'll go with the kyb agx's. Thanks all.
Anyone know of a vendor who is reputable and w/a good website...otherwise I'll just go to my local speed shop.

Just looked at the site. They don't have a part number for the Illumina's... Just their "Performance" line, which is the non-adjustable OEM replacements I mentioned in my first post.

Definitely go for the AGX's... You can't go wrong with them. As for who to get them from, do a forum search for Isidro... From what I heard, he will give you a very good price on AGX's. Otherwise, try www.p-s-t.com. At $389 shipped, you'll be hard pressed to beat that price.

I just thought I'd chime in here.
I have a set of Tokico re-valved blues, that Ken Nord got me.
I have those with a set of Eibach Pro-Kits (okay, go ahead talk about me) and Koni bump stops.

All I have to say is that AFAIC the re-valved Tokico are no better than the originals! I put those struts on in January, and they're already squeaking.http://www.plauder-smilies.com/madgo.gif

This time next year, I'll get myself a set of AGXs and the GC soil-overs.
