Well, I brought my car to the dealer for that Nissan spring car care clinic BS, and also told them to look into why my car is stalling on deceleration. For 72 dollars they told me, "You're car has the intake box removed, an aftermarket header, and an aftermarket muffler; they removed your air box when they put the k&n on." My response was basically to just smile and say, yeah I'm aware that there is no filter box because I'm the one who put the POP charger on. What I really wanted to say was, NO SHIT, my car has all those damn bolt-ons?! I never knew! Anyway, it gets better. Nissan claims that the reason why my car is stalling is due to my aftermarket modifications, because the ECU is printing out no error codes; most likely the header is doing it. Personally, I think they're full of shit, but regardless, I paid the bill and recieved a list of all the normal stupid little leaks my car has at 90,000 miles and walked out the door. Also they told me my valve cover is leaking (I already knew that; at least that proves that they checked the car over somewhat). I'm selling my car in a few months and getting an RSX Type S, so I wasn't too pissed about the stalling problem not being corrected. I didn't exect them to fix it anyway since I get the feeling that they just don't give a shit about your car if it's not under warranty. I also think that any kind of modification scares them or something.
I do want to fix this problem so I can enjoy the car for the few months I have left with it, so today I decided to take off my AIV breather filter cause it looks like all the filter oil has wore off and seems especially dirty. I also removed the resonator box that the breather filter and AIV connect to. I shook the box and a large amount of black carbon-like dirt came out of it. I got most of the dirt out, but there is still some dirt stuck in the box; you can hear it moving around when you shake the box. I'm thinking that since the resonator box used to be attached to the stock intake box, that all of the dirt came from there. My question is could some of that dirt have gotten into my AIV and clogged it up? If that's the case, wouldn't that cause the car to stall intermittently on deceleration like mine is doing?
