Ok I have a 93 SER lowered on what I was told were progress springs and stock struts. I dont know the exact drop but it is not too low. I never scrape like I did on my H&R's. I am running a set of 17in Tenzo shu 4's with 205-40-R17 tires. The rear rubs the strut rarely when I have passengers.

My question is if I got 205-50-R17s will they rub hardcore because of the taller tire, or is it the width that makes them rub? I can get some cheap BFG's off a friends SRT4.

Anyone ever run a 50 series on 17's ??

you should be able to see where the 40's rub just by looking at the scrub on the tire wall. You may get different rub from the 50's and yes, width will be the same but they'll be taller. this may help, from tire rack:
