I'm getting ready to replace my suspension bushings w/ ES bushings. While I'm there I plan to replace ball joints. What is the concensus among here, replace control arm or just the ball joints? If everyone replaces the ball joints, how is it retained. ie) w/ c-clips or is a press fit. If it is a press fit what is the best way to remove? thanks for any help

Buy new balljoints and rent a ball joint press from the autoparts store. To remove, remove the snap ring (C-clip), than bang on them with a BFH (stand on the other end of the control arm). It only takes a couple good whacks.
Use the press to install the new ones, then put a new snap ring on.

I'm currently replacing ball joints as part of a complete suspension rebuild. To remove the ball joint, remove the snap ring and knock the old ball joint out with a BFH. AutoZone loans a ball joint press that works well-just have to leave a deposit that you get back when you return it.

You can't buy just the ball joint at the dealer. You have to buy the whole control arm assembly with the bushings and ball joint. About $120/each.
Otherwise, you can get aftermarket ball joints for about $40/each.
