I just got a brochure and stuff from Amsoil Inc. out of Superior, WI. They have 80W90 Synthetic GL-4 Only Gear oil as well as Synthetic Engine oils, cleaners, carb spray, lubes, polishes, waxes, etc.
The 1 gallon gear oil is $18.70 + approx $3.50 shipping. Only prob is you have to sign up as a Preferred Customer to order from them. It is $10 for a 6month trial - $20 for a whole year.
Thinking of doing 6 months and ordering some Gear Oil for the tranny and some engine oil.
Any thoughts.

I've been using AMSOil products for my SE-R since my first oil change, and this was sometime in mid-1991. I sure as hell do not baby my car when driving and I haven't had any problems that would be a direct cause of poor lubrication. I do use the tranny oil as well as 10w-30 and luckily know of a place that sells this stuff at fairly low prices.
I would suggest calling around to see if there are any AMSOil dealers in your area before having to sign up to be a preffered member. If you don't find a dealer, become one. There should be a growing demand out there as more often I see the AMSOil logos on race cars and snowmobiles in televised events.
Good Luck.

I've used Amzoil and Redline gear oil back to back in my other car (Eclipse) which is known for terrible shifting. The Amzoil was a nice improvement over regualr gear oil. Redline was an improvement still. I've used Redline MTL in it for about 5 years now. Couldn't be happier.
For motor oil, I dunno about the Amzoil stuff. I've put it in the same Eclipse and it immediately started consuming about a quart every 1000 miles from leaks and burning.
I've used nothing but Mobil1 in the crankcase of my SE-R for the last 45,000 miles. Zero oil consumption. I autocross and do driving schools ~25 weekends a year, so it's not like I'm being gentle with it.
Amzoil is hard to find and expensive.
Mobil1 is cheaper and readily availible at your local Wal-Mart.
If you need anymore protection than what Mobil1 can give you, you are doing some SERIOUS hard driving.
As for being a dealer, I was an Amzoil "dealer" for about a year after college. They are far more interested in you recruiting more dealers than you selling their product. Sounds too much like a pyramid to me, so I dropped it.
