Alright my new motor is showing up next week and i plan on cleaning it and painting it before it goes in. WHats a really good engine cleaner to get off all those years of it sitting in a warehouse somewhere. I've used engine degreaser and that works alright but i want something more powerful?
Any suggestions?
Steam cleaning or a pressure washer with degreaser.

Yeah thats what i was planning on but i wanted something stronger if there is such a thing.
Unless you plan on taking everything apart and getting the block hot tanked those are your best options.

gum cutter/2+2 or any type of carb cleaner and a good pressure washing will get all the gum and dirt crap off. then any type of drill mounted buffer and some hot soapy water will take the remaining film off and prep it for paint. if you want to go the extra step use some rubbing alchihol to get rid of any remaining greasy spots so the paint is sure to stick.

Nice tips! Never thought about the buffer thing! You could also get a some rouge(spelling??) and polish the block too!! :D
