ok im new to the forum. ive been to many other nissan related forums but never this one. just some info.

yesterday was a very surprising day for me. lets just say.....dont underestimate a celica gts. i was on my home yesterday and i guess some black chick in a gts hears my pop charger on my se limited sentra, so she pulls up next to me. we are going down the street but there is traffic. the next light comes up and traffic is going left and right at the intersection except me her and one car in front of me. im already in high 2nd gear so we both take off and im ahead about half a car length until i get to the car in front of me. we are at the next light and we both make a u turn. she goes wide and lets me get in the inner lane. we both take off in first and im ahead by a car length until i shift to third, then i guess the vvtli in the gts kicks in and starts pulling on me. she had me by a car and a half. thats the first time a celica pulled on me.

some more info: 99 sentra se limited w/pop charger, 91 240sx coupe soon to be sr20det

was it a new Celica GTS? if it's a manual it should smoke you.

but if not well.. those things are pretty quick (new one that is).. so dont' underestimate them.. they're hella light (2400lb) and have VVTL-i

Actually, I beg to differ. I say this because one night at the street races (back in my non-turbo days) i raced a manual one from a dead stop and this guy had exhaust and an intake if i recall. I was running an air filter and my old greddy sp cat-back system, and a stock clutch. By 2nd i had him by 1 car and then by 3rd it got ugly  so fear not those TRD slugs!

I think it comes down to driver a LOT on those cars. Reason being is you have to know how to keep it in it's HP curve, and from what I've read that's revving the heck out of it. I raced one a while back and I was VERY surprised. I assumed I would do the normal civic race but the guy stayed VERY close. At the time I had I/H/ and muffler. But it was in my SLOW 96... lol

If the two friends were in the car with you thats like an extra 300 - 400 lbs which makes a HUGE difference. was the chick by herself? If she was by herself and you had people in the car then I wouldnt sweat it. THose things are fast off a rolling start though. But off a dead stop im not that impressed cause the cam switch isnt till like 6500rpm and by then you already have a couple car lengths.

Yeah thats true. I had 2 guys which were both bigger than me and i weigh about 160. The celica had another girl in the passenger side but i doubt she weighed more then 120 lbs.

Well after getting back from seeing 20 SR20s dyno, I can tell you that your SE will pull about 121-124hp at the wheels with pop charger. Now compare that to the GTS dyno of somehwere in the 150hp vicinity.
But ,damn, a black girl who can drive!!!
=-)
Did you get her tag #?

I hope it was a manual, the automatic is simply a snail.....my friend nismoser g-teched his friends new celica gts, which was an automatic, and it pulled like high 9's to low 10 in the 0-60 test...the g-tech is not an accurate device, but its usually only about a half a second off, so figure that one out. The auto cannot take advantage of the variable timing to save its life.

just the facts:

you = 124hp at the wheels
GT-S= 162hp at the wheels

Celica go bye bye!!!!
