Good question. I would say the ACT HD pp would be enough, but louis anaya blew that up with a 50 shot. I think he ended up going with an extreme pp and that has been fine thus far. That is the clutch I most likely will be going with for a 75 shot of nitrous.

What is the stock clutch good for?

Not a whole helluva' lot once you start using nitrous! ;)

Seriously....I've been using a ProActive clutch in my car that went in at the same time as my nitrous (almost 2 years now and over 100 dragstrip passes). IIRC, we put in the ProActive clutch that is rated for up to 100hp over stock. It works like a champ.

Ordered it through Options Auto Salon for about $300 with TO bearing.

I uterrly roasted my ACT HD with stock disk the first time I went to the track with my 50 shot. RIght at the line.. didnt give a hint of slip during the burnout.

Now I have a ACT HD Pressure Plate with the ACT Copper 6puck. If you can live with chatter its a great clutch. It hasn't failed me yet.

It is a great set-up, grabs like a bitch just ask my T-case it cracked for the 2nd time...It might be a little too much for a 50sht, I would stick with a street ACT clutch while running a 50sht..

Hey, I have the JWT HD PP and an OEM disk. Would I be in good shape with an upgraded disk? That plate is pretty heavy...

I've seen a few guys with the JWT PP and it seems to hold a 50shot just fine. Don't know about the 100shot you're planning. I think if you go with an upgraded disk you should be fine. I know JWT has somec razy half metal half organic disk that they use with their strandard PP. I don't know what the cost is but they call it their "Ultimate" clutch.

I just ordered the HD PP + JWT Disc from Ben @ and he informed me that combo will be MORE than adequate to handle a 100 shot of juice. (I'm only doing 50 at least, maybe 75 eventually)

I am a supporter of jwt but...

I would not recommend there clutch combo all it is, is a cm hd pp and a stock oem disc...yes it holds power ok, but you cant launch over 3000 rpm with it, it just does not hold at all, and when you slip it a to work those 60 footers forget about it grabbing in 2nd gear the plate itself works great nice oem feel but the disc is crap. I went with this set up and will never do it again. A friend of mine had the jwt copper/organic clutch and its slipping already, dont go with organic, does not like to be heated up... Spend some money and get something reliable either Act stage 3 or Cm stage 3 great drivability, I currently did a clutch job and installed a Cm stage 3, I will let you know for myself how it works out, or there is the other option of getting a 4 or 6 puck clutch and never worry about it not holding the 50 shot but then your only worry is the tranny itself....

I've heard some interesting comments recently. I've got a friend who wants my yet to be installed JWT. Maybe I should sell it to him and buy a ACT. I know a few with the stage 3 and it grabs/holds well. Hmmmmmmm..
