Hey does anyone have jwt s3 cams in their se-r's i was wondering if you feel a different in power abnd where they pull at what range. I was lookin into buying them but wanted some opinions first. would i be better off gettina 91 intake cam and gettin that gain or the full s3 cam upgrade? what kind of horsepower should i get from either one compared to other.

Hey agr ser,

Ask 93BlackBird as I think he has some S3 cams in his car. I know he was at the orlando Dyno Days.

I have the S3s and I am very happy with them. You can really feel the pull from 5000 and above. The car really feels not much differant.

Hey Marc C, what was your 60 foot times? I am asking because your mph looks a little high for a 15.0. I would think high 14's:confused:

I have S3s. They rock. I only have good things to say about them.

The best I ever did was a 15.4 @ 93 ... I will try and dig up my timeslips. I'm a lousy drag racer though.

unleash the beast! get the cams. they may be the milder of the JWT cams, but after 5K rpms you will love the pull. money well spent. drivability is great also. no super loopyness here.:D

I already had a PR CAI, stillen header, and JWT ecu when I installed my s3's. Felt a nice SOTP increase at midrange rpm and up. Then installed a Courtesy cat back exhaust and got some SOTP increase throughout the rpm range, especially on top. Exhaust also increased the rpm where power started to drop off. With my mods, the stock exhaust seemed to be the bottleneck mainly at high rpms.

Hey guyz, I was wondering when swapping in the S3 cams did you have to change the springs and retainers as well? Or are the stock spring and retainers sufficient? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

with the S3 cams you do not have to change the springs and retainers. I beleive you do if you get the "C"series cams. on the 95 se-r the JWT ECU is good also.
Higher rev & cams goooood.....

Use stock springs and retainers. The only parts you will probably need are valve cover gaskets and chain tensioner gasket. The FSM has good instructions and pictures. It's actually a fairly easy job.

Well as far as the cams alone I wouldn't know, but with just a HS header (including crack..lol) and S3's and nothing past the cat I was hauling ass. I mean pretty crazy. It was definatly a big change. Now I think the crack has grown bigger in the header with lots of motor movement thanks to shot mounts, but it is worth it. The night I took out the car after getting them put in (they were used so no break in time) I chased a GST on the interstate and he wasn't kicking my ass and gave me compliments on the car. 1st gear redline comes quick as shit which takes some getting used too and you need to get used to taking off without stalling. I say if you don't have the money for new springs and retainers go for the S3's.
