I know this supposedly helps keep the heat in the headers, or whatever...but I also heard it causes them to rust faster.
I have a Pacesetter header now, which is already rusty as hell, would the header wrap help out any or not?
thanks
Sup Serb, if your header is already rusty, it might make it worse because it could hold in the moisture. Without the wrap its free to air dry more. This is what I'd do, go buy some high temp paint (silver I'd do) them remove the header. Use some steel brushes to remover rust dirt etc.... Rinse and dry. Shoot it with the paint, then after its air dried slap it back on the car, drive around for an hour to cure the paint. Then after that, the wrap would be no problem and would help keep down under hood temps.
Good luck bro

I think the advantages gained, are not worth the dissadvantages. The wrap helps keep the exhaust gas hotter..hence more velocity out of the pipes...but, it will deteriorate the metal faster. But then again....it is PACESETTER MADD POWA!! and you could afford to buy a new one every 6 months...:D :D :D

Notice what the header wrap advertisements say (or at least the decent catalogs that actually care about what they sell you). They usually state that use of the header wrap voids any warranties of headers. That's because they know that the header will degrade faster due to the intense heat that the wrap maintains inside.
I can't say if the wrap makes any noticeable difference or not, no experience with them.

The header wrap definately helps keep under hood temps down, and keeps the fans from melting. HP gain might not matter if the header keeps rusting out. The wrap keeps a lot of heat in there.

If you're seriously going to consider this, I would also recommend that you remove the rust first. But instead of trying to scrub it off with a brush, get it sandblasted. A lot of places will sandblast it for like $10. Then you can spray some high-temp paint on it.
I used a brush on my manifold when I got it and it took forever!!
