Does anyone know the idle adjustment procedure as per the factory service manual? mine flucuates from 800-750 (back and forth - drop down slowly, jump back up). TIA

Idle adjustment is extreamly easy. On the passenger side of the car on the top of the throttle body there is a black screw that adjusts idle. Here is what you do.

1. Disconnect the radiator/engine fans. Juat pull the electrical plug off of the drivers side fan.
2. Start car and allow to warm up to normanll operating temp.
3. Turn screw slowly until idle is set. A good setting for our cars is 1000 rpm.
4. Plug fans back in, your done.

Before you do this though go to local Autozone/Pepboys/Napa type place and have your alternator/battery tested, it could be bad, esp. if you have a big stereo. If alternator/battery is not bad could be a fuel issue. Buy some fuel system cleaner and try it, could be something like a dirty injector or fuel filter where as the car will not idle well w/ out the fuel pump forcing gas through system at higher pressures.

its flucuating from 750-800. i'm wondering if it is the fuel filter. oh well, i'll hook up the fuel pressure guage this week(end) and see what the deal is. thanks for the info.

idle problem is not new to the community here. yours doesnt seem that bad or anything worse than an idle adjustment. It is a good idea to check your fuel system but before you do all that work, just take 5 minutes and readjust the base idle (our idle does tend to be 'off' every now and then)
Check the link for instructions per FSM www.se-r.net/engine/adjust_idle.html
