ok so im attempting to install this gauge and i took out the existing oil pressure sensor (which we all know how reliable that is)
so herees the problem....i attempted to tap the existing hole and it didnt work...i tapped correctely but the nipple didnt screw in. so i just threw the old oil pressure sensor back in does anyone know the thread pitch for the stock o/p sensor?
any ideas on how to get this hooked up i hate not having a o/p gauge.

what oil pressure gauge do you have? you may need an adaptor unless you plan to rethread the hole.

Stock sender is 1/8 BSPT, aftermarket is 1/8 NPT. You need an adapter to run the aftermarkey sender in the stock location. This information is all over the forum also.

Good thing you have the gauge then. Brass won't last long. Ask me how I know.

What did you try to tap it with? If you tapped it with anything other than an 1/8th bspt you prolly fucked up your threads.
The nissport is only good if you want to run multiple taps off of that one port. If ALL you are doing is replacing the the stock pressure light with an aftermarket gauge, then autometer makes a adaptor to go from the stock bspt to there npt size.

It lets you keep the light and run the guage. That's why I use it in my track car.

The problem with using a brass fitting in this application is that hanging a heavy oil pressure sensor on the end of a (soft) brass fitting, is a recipe for disaster. The fitting is horizontal, it's unsupported, you're probably going to be running stiff motor mounts, so it'll be vibrating pretty good, well I think I've made my case.
Much better to use a Nissport adapter, or run a stainless line to a bracket on the firewall or the back of the engine and mount the sensor there.
