Here are the pics, they are pretty decent quality so let them load. I could not get the 5th main bearing out, therefore no pic. All of the rod bearings looked ok and measured ok, but 3 of the 4 main bearings were scratched to hell. Look at the thread for description. Example: bearing1-1 is bearing #1, first pic of that bearing.

I posted this thread on the SE-R mailing list and got this response:

I would. My #3 lower main bearing had a groove and 1,2, & 4 lower looked
a bit worn (though all plastigauged in spec) I replaced them anyways since
I was in there and figured they weren't getting any better.

Just curious... do you know if he got the upper main bearings out without
pulling the crank? They look like they could be "rolled" out but I hadn't
heard anyone doing that and didn't want to have to drop the crank if it
didn't work ;-)

I still can't find those damn numbers on the crank! So I should just replace the bottom set of main bearings? Wouldn't the top half need replacing also? Do I still need to plastigauge them? That's gonna be a major PITA!

You would need to replace both halves of the bearings. To detemine the size of bearings you need to use the table in the Haynes. You need to compare the numbers on the block to the numbers on the crank and match them up in that table. I can take pics of where the numbers are tonight if you want.

Mike Kojima had the following to say:

"The bearings are very worn. I would mike the crank to
see if it is within spec when the bearings look that
that.

It will need bearings one or two or even more grades
tighter to get the clearances real good.
