I've heard this:

"If you can use a wrench and sockets you can install a turbo kit."

True? False?

True...but can you REALLY use that ratchet....? :D

I think if you have the "knowledge" and are able to use a wrench and a tap...you can install a turbo. It's not quite that cut and dry....

If you understand the fundamentals of how the turbo system works, IE where the various vacuum lines go, then yes, you can.

If it was that easy then the everyone would work on their own cars. If you do not know what you are doing give it to a pro. If you try to be cheap now you will pay a lot more latter. Never fails.

It is that easy, the only time I take my car to a shop is to have them do an oil change..getting ready to swap gears from cracked trans to a good case....but then again I'm not everyone..:p

Why would you pay for an oil change?

Less time consuming, and sometimes cheaper.

Sometimes its just too damn cold to be outside changing the oil, thats why I pay sometimes. I usually do it myself in the summer.

Actually they put in the "good stuff", I get it done at the same shop that I get my bottle filled at..ten minutes is ten minutes..I'll spend the time when I'm saving $150 on labor to do my own clutch or learning how to do a gear swap..I don't sweat the small stuff :D  :p

I've had nothing but bad luck with quick oil change places in the past which taught me if you want something done right, do it yourself.

Besides, my baby deserves better, and it shows her I care. ;)

I've had bad experiences too. When I first bought my car I took it to Nissan for oil changes cause they gave me these $19.95 coupons, but one time I got my car back and looked at the oil filter and it was dirty and I just had a feeling that they didn't change the filter. That's when I started doing it myself. I have to know that it's done right.

What ever works for you guys, I prefer to have my local speed shop hook a quik, cheap oil change.. but that is just me..Man did this get off topic..Turbo shouldn't be that hard to install, like Terrin said, if you understand the fundies of a Turbo, you should be able to tackle the install.

Not to meantion that they usally over fill you oil. The only think I ever liked about somebody changing my oil was the little sticker that told you when to change again. ;)
