: having problem with car after washing motor
92se-r_bigplans 03-18-2006, 07:06 PM i washed my motor with some cleaner about 2 weeks ago.. i had it shut off and a bag over my new intake... but when i went to start it after i had it washed off it didnt wanna start and it was acting like it was loading up... been running ok till today on my way home from work... when i went to the hit gas it kinda bogged down and made a crappy sound like a vw beetle sounds ... if i drive at 3k its ok but when i punch it harder than that it starts that noise and has no power.... any ideas what all it may be ??? any help would be greatly appreciated!!
ALLMOTORSENTRA 03-18-2006, 07:11 PM yank out your plug wires and you'll see!

X2
I washed my motor once and it ran like shit too, until i looked in the plug holes and they were filled with water :eek2:
92se-r_bigplans 03-18-2006, 07:27 PM did that and there fine.... checked the cap and it has a lil bit of carbon residue on it but ok.... im going crazy....
SE R Madness 03-18-2006, 09:19 PM don't just check the caps. Look DOWN in where the Plugs are you may find water. I can't think of anything else that wouldmake your engine bob like that.
STRATTON 03-18-2006, 09:27 PM check your plugs. if its water in the plugs do not remove em. just blow some pressurized air down there and get out as much as u can. face your car towards the sun and leave the hood open. check your cap and rotor. if you heavily soaked it some times the connection on the red plug gets corroded.
stratton.
still4punk 03-19-2006, 03:41 AM haha, wipe your engine dont spray it! my friend did the same thing, wouldnt listen to me untill i made him yank out the wires and he saw them full of water and 4 spark plugs shot.
Fatonsr20 03-19-2006, 09:07 AM Yeah man listen to these guys, i would change my spark plug wires than if its no better, change the plugs too, make sure its all dry down there....same thing happened too me...
nismo94tuner 03-19-2006, 09:23 AM I just let my car idle for about 10 mins after washing my motor. It backfired and barely idled but then it finally cleared up. Consider this a good time to go get yourself some new NGK plugs and wires.:biggthump
92se-r_bigplans 03-19-2006, 03:57 PM theres a lil condensation in there but no water... its like its sucking alot of air and its trying to compensate my giving more fuel.. at the ass end of the car smells like i been pumping gas for an hr... but y all of a sudden would it start to do this though??
tre fidde 03-19-2006, 04:22 PM its most likely water in the wires or spark plus holes and yes water can get into wires!
92se-r_bigplans 03-19-2006, 05:04 PM i found that there is condensation on the plug wires and i mine as well get a cap and new plugs.... thanks for all the help all.... hopefully that will fix my problems..
still4punk 03-19-2006, 08:19 PM maybe you're burning oil, are your exhaust fumes blue?
SENTRASER 03-21-2006, 01:41 AM Yeh, compressed air works wonders! Also, check the wires to the coil.
SUPER"FAKA"MAN 03-21-2006, 02:22 AM As stated already above...
1. check your plugs
2. check your wires
3. check your cap & rotor
If need be blow out any water that might have gotten to the plugs and or change them.
Se-Racer 03-21-2006, 01:41 PM a shopvac some duct tape and a straw will do wonders for water in the plug holes
Flounder 03-21-2006, 06:58 PM ghetto! /\ but would work :D
Pretty White 03-21-2006, 08:04 PM #1 galley has water in it...
