I picked up an Optima battery at pep boys... pulled out the old nasty stock battery from which has been in the car for 118K. The past owner knew jack.
Anyhow... So the fuggin Possy Connector to from the Cable to the battery was all eaten up. The dealer was close so we had to pick one up at a local store..
Since the stock on has that Clip in thing, we were able to save that and put on a new one. So we test the battery, it's shown 12.
I start to drive, about a day later the Brake and Battery light comes on. Alternator goes a day after that.
I go pick up a rebuilt at nissan... 240 dollors..
Take it to get it unstalled at a local shop for 80 bucks..
Pick it up today and I notice my Cigar Lighter (I have a adpater with three plugs and a battery tester).. well it showed the battery at MID (There are three settings.. LOW, MID, FULL) This was happening when I started to see the brake light/Battery.
SO I get off the freeway, Hit 2ngd gear... the car gets SLUUUGGISH... my ABS light goes on..
I make it home.. turn off the car.. go to turn it one.. DEAD!
Take a Volt Readin..
battery reads 12.3 -5
Finally get it to turn over...
Batter ready 11 - 10
Reading from Alterbator is 9-10
So did I get fucked on a rebuilt?? From Nissan?
Any help would be cool

You can change the alternator yourself. Its real easy!!!
Maybe its something else eating at your components. But I dont know what.
Is everything grounded properly? Is that plastic battery sleeve under your battery?
Yeah sorry to hear that bro, but it's really not that hard to change yourself. Some of us have been known to take out alternators out when it's not even needed.. No matter where you bought it, they should exchange it.

I'm wondering if it also could be the connections to the battery since we bought another one from an auto store and not nissan.
That shit was so eatn up... I was able to save the clip in part and use that... just bolted it into the new connection piece.
Bu I'm sooo bumbed now..

I tried... to take the first one off... but fuck... I could not get to the pivot bolt.. I only have a 16mm socket wrench... it was tooo big and hit the fender wall (meatl One)... I had no wrench Either at least not one that big..

Get yourself a good socket set.
and some 3'' and 6'' extensions and you'll be alright.
I have the alternator swap down to 30 -35 minutes. Thats hauling major ass, though.

Just after i bought my car my alternator went, but what i did was buy a new one with a lifetiime warranty (forgot what brand) and it works perfectly. So if you could get your money back i suggest doing that rather than purchasing a used one.:) By the way, that's the phattest sig on this forum in my opinion! :D

I mean.. we got a battery connector... bolted that into the main wire and that one with the Plug in thingie... by the way what the hell is that??
once I had the advance go out on the distributor, went to get a rebuilt from nissan like $460, car ran like shit after I put it in and set the timming. got on from junk yard $80 put it in set it and ran like a champ

I'm pretty sure it's the alternator... cuase I grabed the ABS Code.. it read "LOW VOLTAGE"... I just went out and starter her... she was running fine... my battery checker read MID, I did the ghetto test...
Held the window thingies UP! on both Drive/Pass... I watched my headlights dim and the battery test go to LOW! Then the ABS light triggered and pulled the code... again read low voltage.... so In all sense it is the alternator Again... not sure why or how it went in less than 5 mins... but it did...
i'm going to call nissan to get a exchange and head over to the shop were I installed it and tell them what happened... cuase correct me if I am wrong... they should have tested it on the voltage meter..
Now that I think of it that dude was tryin to jack me.. cuase he said my starter is makin noise.. YEAH NO SHIT NO VOLTAGE GETTING TO IT! he was like you'll need to replace it... when I picked my car up and turned her over she made a BAD STARTER noise... When I went to turn it over now.. It was FINE! no prob....
So I'm going to knock his teeth out... LOL
Goes to Show.... if you want something done right you just got to do it your damn self... Nuff said!

So I get up early call nissan. Tell them my story... they tell me that they will pay to tow the car, Dio it and let me know if it is the alernator... or not.. if it is the alternator they'll replace it out.
Thats hella cool... so Dublin Nissan Rocks in CA..
anyhow..
I bust out the Voltage reader... hit the battery again.. reads a nice 12.3 NOT BAD>.
I hit the alternator W/ Car off... she reads 12.3
Ok OK... start her... she turns over... I read battery... she reads.. 11.5 and is dropin FAST!
I take a reading from the alternator... she reads 11.0 also dropin.. I turn off the car...
Scream... then ass this happens I look down... (Keep in mind it was DARK last night so this is why I missed this...)... so I loook down at the possy into the alternator.. and see that the Lil Sensor Clip Thing.. is not plugged in...
SO I GO FUUUUUUUUCK!
Plug it in... she turns over slow... do to the lag on battery... then my meeter reads 14.5 on the alternator... and 14.0 on the battery..
THAT MUTHA FUGER DID NOT PLUG THAT SHIT IN!!! So now I'm going to do some ass whoopin.... Like I said.. for now on.. If i want something done right my ass is doin it my self..
