: MSD 6A blow out

Big Boost

The last time I took my SE-R down the track, it felt as if it was breaking up. I knew I had enough fuel, but I always wondered did I have enough spark? I felt the car break up at the top of gears 2-4. I knew it affected my ET, which wasn't bad at a 12.29, but I didn't have my usual top end speed.
My other reasoning is that the custom intake manifold produces much more airflow over the stock unit and probably compounded the spark problem. Does anyone know typically what a MSD 6A is good for regarding spark and boost relation?

Rob--

What coil are/were you running with your 6A box? A 6A can handle some serious spark....more than a high-psi SR20 could even use. However, the coil is key to how it all works.
It might be something as simple as a coil upgrade, IMHO.

It was a Blaster SS coil. I remember someone else mentioning the same problem. I believe it was Mike Kojima. Don't quote me, but I think he said that with higher boost levels there might not be enough spark.
