: what is the best classic
99SENTRASER 03-21-2002, 05:07 PM i have found two classic se-r's and an nx200 that i'm looking at buying. there is one 91 se-r with 102k, white no mods. i found a 93, red with no mods with only 87k. the 91 is selling for $3000 and the 93 is selling for $4995 at a dealer. the nx2k is selling for $5100 blue color. all cars are in very good condition and doesn't seem to have been raced. so which one is the best???? right now, i'm leaning towards th 93 se-r.
Calum 03-21-2002, 05:12 PM Is it an early '93 or late '93? Early ones are high port (good), late ones are low ports. If the extra money isn't a big deal and its a high port, I'd take the '93. Better seats, better looking bumper, and the tachs in the right spot. :D
eric96ser 03-21-2002, 05:53 PM ALL '93 are high port. First year for low port was '94.
Calum 03-21-2002, 06:42 PM ah... I stand corrected.
Mr SE-R 03-21-2002, 06:42 PM '93 all the way http://digilander.iol.it/Accnasio/smileys/fart.gif http://digilander.iol.it/Accnasio/smileys/biggthumpup.gif
slowSER 03-21-2002, 07:42 PM I think Calum's car was built in April '93. Don't get much later for da Japanese cars. :D
Its311Pete 03-21-2002, 08:37 PM If both the Classics are in good shape then I would say look at the following advantages:
Less firm seats.
Headlight levelers
lower front noiseclip
diffrent taillights
the mealage is within 20k miles so the question is, do you feel like paying $1900 more for these options?
Storm88000 03-21-2002, 09:13 PM Why the 1993 SE-R is the best one:
1. Highport - very last year of the highport SR20DE
2. Gauge cluster - speedometer is where it's supposed to be, and it goes in 20mph increments, ie, 80, 100, 120, 140 whereas the 91-92 SE-R goes in 10mph increments, which looks cluttered and un-neccesary, 80, 90, 100, 110 etc....
3. Seats - Although some feel the 91-92 seats are better, I disagree, the 93 SE-R seats have a better material and are more comfortable.
4. Tail lights - Tail lights extend farther into the middle of the trunk, also color pattern is different and more modern
5. Headlights - just superior design over the 91-92's.
6. Front bumper - more agressive looking.
7. Interior door cloth - also superior and less likely to rip

1. 93 has the same engine as 91, no difference at all.
2. I dont understand why you think the speedo is in the wrong place on the 91-92. Also, the 10mph incrament is better than 20 IMO
3. That is your opinion, they are too soft for my tastes, and other people's as well.
4. Again, your opinion, I like the 91-92 better.
5. You are totally wrong on this one. They are made of plastic, and turn yellow. All that is better is that they have a level in them so you can see if its straight.
6. Agreed, but I got one for $50
7. I really dont think that the door mateiral is anymore durable than the 91-92

I like all the Classics. I just happen to own a 92 so I prefer it!!
1. I prefer High port SR20 ( same 91-93)
2. Cluster is pefect on the 91-92 (Very easy to see)
3. I don't care I have a Custom interior. ( but it is all the same different patterns)
4. I prefer the 91-92 lights
5. Plastic is harder to maintain clear and clean
6. 93-93 bumper is more agressive
7. Before my interior swap it held up fine on the 92
All Classics are cool. I love them all but like I said before I like the 91-92
Storm88000 03-21-2002, 10:19 PM Right, all classics are good.
But by nature your opinions are flawed because you both own 91 and 92's. I don't have a classic so I am looking at this without any leeway.
:D
Storm88000 03-21-2002, 10:22 PM And about the headlights, I don't see how the 91-92's are better. The 93-94 seems much better, in both beam pattern and durability.
Also, I forgot, #8...the grill is better too on the 93.
KikoSanchez182 03-21-2002, 10:24 PM i say just get the cheapest one! there that was easy!

2. Look at all the SR20 powered vehicles since 1993. All of them have had the speedometer in the same place since then. Hell, I think almost every car has the speedometer on that side.
7. I dunno, all the 91-92's I've been in have had fraying door material, but I've never seen it on a 93. Could be coincidence I guess.
9. I am ready to add a new one, 1993's are less prone to 5th gear pop-out than the 91-92's - and thats a biggie, like $1k.

Have you seen that most 93s and 94s have yellow headlights because they are plastic?
You can clean sand them down, and polish them, but thats a lot of work just to maintain them.
And more durable...I doubt it, plastic breaks just as easily as glass.
Serban 03-21-2002, 10:32 PM Well, I dont think the 93s are that much less prone to having 5th gear pop out, look at SmoothDaddyFig, he has a 94, and he's riding on 4 gears. Do you think they made the 93 much better, then in 94 they decided to use the shitty tranny? I doubt it.
And I have seen some numbers before, and there were A LOT more 91 and 92 SE-Rs made as opposed to 93s and 94s, so what you said about most of the 91s and 92s having the 5th gear pop out is a bit biased.
I'm not trying to say you're wrong on everything, I agree about the bumper, I got one myself, but some of the things you say are your opinion, and it doesnt mean you're right about them.
Storm88000 03-21-2002, 10:45 PM Ok, yes they are my opinion, almost all of them.
I'm just going to make a damn Poll which is better right now :)
SENTRASER 03-21-2002, 11:57 PM Why is the NX always the red-headed step child? Its always neglected! What year is the NX? I say go for the NX 'cause it has a rev limiter at 7700rpm and it has no speed limiter! But, I'm a little biased! Oh yeh, what options does the NX have?
Monsoon 03-22-2002, 12:22 AM $4995!? dang! we got my '92 with 83k on it for $3100.

Nope. All 91-94 SE-Rs and 91-93 NX2000's fuel cut is 7500rpms stock.
