I ordered the S4 cams and sent them back for the S3's. My question to all of you SR20 nuts is: Is it OK to advance my timing to 17 degrees with these cams? The instruction sheet that comes with them says to put it at the stock setting. I am also installing a Stromung 2.5 in exhaust real soon. Another question is: If I have a CAI,header, pulleys, plugs, wires and am getting the cams and exhaust installed what kind of realastic HP gain do guys think I will get? My friend says 10, but I think more like 15+. C'mon guys share your wisdom with me. Thanks

I believe 15 degree timing is for if you are running the JWT ECU and it would be ok to run 17 degree timing with the cams with stock ecu, but please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong anybody. Also i think you should put on a 2.25 sized exhaust, that's a good size for all motor and nitrous. 2.5 is what i'm running and i'm turbo, but hey whatever floats your boat. As for HP gains, probably around the 10hp to the wheels area.

I meant 2.25. Sorry. I do have the stock ECU. I want to get the JWT ECU but I will wait until I get enough money to get the whole NOS set-up. I have been reading posts and here anybody setting their timing about 17-19 degrees. Is 17 good os should I go higher? I have a 94-SER with 100K and have no problem running premium fuel. I have a Master Nissan technician doing the cams and timing for me, so he should do the timing right. (I hope)

The JWT S3 cams do not like advanced timing. It has been proven on a dyno on several cars that you will lose power beyond 15 degrees if you have the JWT S3 cams.

Andrew is right, leave your timing at 15.

BTW, why did you send the S3's back for the S4's? I've had both and like the S4's better.

I returned the S4's because Ben (JWT) said that they pull mostly at 5500- redline. That would be sweet if I was racing all the time, but I think that the S3's would more suitable for my driving style. I race SCCA and I think that pulling around a tight corner and punching it I would get more out of the lower end with the S3's. I have only had the Tomei Street cams so I will have to see with my JWT's. It seems like most people on the forum like the S3's better. Tell me the difference you have felt between the two. I am curious to see what you have found.

Well honestly, I didn't feel much a of a difference between the S3 and S4, except for the top end. The S4's pulled like a bitch past 7000rpms. The S3's did as well, but not as strong. Thats basically my opinion on them.

The low end felt *almost* the same. The S3's were a little bit more streetable and had a better idle.
