I finally put in the 91 intake cam on my 95 200sx se-r like two days ago... And today I noticed my dreaded "Check Engine" light was on??!!?? Someone suggested that I unplug the battery for a minute and reconnect it, then see if the light comes back on. It did immediately. Help me Please!! I have an 8 hr drive back to school on saturday and I would really rather not have to do it with the warning light on... Thanx for the help

While the light may be on, it may not be that big of a deal. You may have forgotten to connect something properly after the cam-install. Double check your work.
BTW, if your car runs normally then I'd suspect that other than a problem with the cams themselves.

can't you just pull the code from the ecu? I'm personally not familiar with it, but i'm sure someone could help ya out.
Its something along the lines of turning a small knob on the computer and watching the blinking lights. The first set of short flashing lights indicates the first digit, and the second set of longer flashing lights indicates the second digit.
in the case of Code 55 (nothing wrong), 5 short flashes, then a pause, then 5 long flashes.
...just a suggestion...again, i'm not too familiar with it.

Yeah pull the code from the ecu...
heres how./.
Well there are two ways..
First, remember, the check engine light is telling you something is wrong. If you could care less about your car then way number 1 will help you.
First Way To turn off the check engine light on Most Cars -
1.You may pop the hood up (Engine). Next to your battery lies a box with fuses, often called fuses or linked fusses (look at Car Manual for location if your car savvy.)
2.Well on the top of the box of fuses you'll see a list of fuses and what they correspond too (Sample Igintion. Battery. Lights).
PULL OUT THE BATTERY FUSE! by doing so you will cut and kill all power to the car. (note if you have an alarm, you will need to keep the alarm keychain by yourside, you'll see why.)
3.This will then erase the cars computers memory! I would wait about 2 mins then replace the fuse. If you have an alaram, it's now going off so turn it off with your keychian.
4. Turn on the car and no more check engine light.
============================
The Second Way,
NOW if you care about your car you will do it this way, once again if there is a problem on your car, the check engine light will come back on again.
SO!!!
1. In Nissan Cars (and most others), the ECU or Computer is located between the passenger and driver. Behind the Gear Shift and radio. It sits on the Lil Hump between driver and passenger. So find it!
2. Your going to have to reach behind the dash, you should see a plastic box like container behind the dash (This is ground level behind ashtray or lighter).
3. You'll need a Philips Head and a 10mm Wrench. The Computers compartment will have 2 10mm bolts. Unloosen them and force the plastic box off. (This is a Lil hard, after all your ground level, I would start on the driver side to un fasten the bolts and slide off the plastic top towards the passenger side.)
4. Once you get this off you have four screws you'll need to undo. (By the way you will see the computer, it looks just like a Hard Drive for a PC.)
5. In fact it's bolted in on the sides like a harddrive. So take the Phillips and un screw the Computer out. From here you need to Push back toward the gear shift. While pulling up to get the brace off with the computer. Turn the computer back towards you.
(This would be the end faing your engine or firewall)
6. From here you should see a O slot with a flat head screw in it. Here you will need to pop the seal. (This lil O Hole w/ Screw is the computers self diagnostics test.)
7. Turn the car on the ON position (Not fully on with engine). From here take a flat head and screw the screw in the hole ( O Hole which you just broke the seal too.) , make sure you turn this slow and Clockwise .
8. When the screw stops, wait 2 seconds and turn it back (Counter Clock wise ) to it's original spot.
9. From here your check engine light will begin to flash. These are the codes..
it'll flash long flashes (the first number) then it'll flash short flashes (the second number).
most cars have a four code base, so say your problem is code 0403 you would see
Four long flashes then 3 short flashes.
This will repeat until you clear the check engine light.
10. So now that you have you code you can look them up on the web.
11. Now when finished it's time to turn off the check engine light.
Just turn the O Hole screw back clockwise until it stops, Remember SLOW! Then wait 2 seconds, turn it back to the counter clockwise position , (Your check engine light will now stop flashing and remain on).
12. Turn off the car, wait another few seconds, turn it back on ..... NO MORE CHECK ENGINE!
I've done this hella times and trust me after the first time, I never have went into a shop to turn off the check engine light.
If you have questions email me... I will provide better detail... It's hard to describe the process, but trust me it works .!
Good Luck
Oatis
