: Thicker synthetic oil?

Hey guys I been using Mobil 1 10w-30 synthetic oil in my car for over 2 years now and it's been working fine so far. I was having some oil leak problems from upper and lower oil pan and oil feed line so I took motor out and resealed everything but I didn't notice I had a very small leak on my crank seal/oil pump so it's leaking. It's just a couple of drops but then again it really bothers me and I don't feel like taking motor out again to reseal it. NOW I was thinking that if I change to a ticker oil that might solve the problem since its starting to get hot here in GA and that 10w-30 is too thin. What would be your safer recommendation on a thicker oil?

Where is it leaking from? Whats the "crank case seal?"

Most well known as the oil pump seal.

You can go as thick as you want as long as temperatures permit. I, myself, wouldn't use anything more than 20-W50 though.

Drain your oil and put in a quart of Lucas Lubricant and a quart of Mobil 1 10w30....

Being in HOT Miami Weather here, I often go 10W-40......sometimes 10W-30

I run Mobil 1 15/50 all the time. Turbo cars get way to hot and break down oil much quicker.

I use Mobil 1 0w-40 here in Florida. I only use 15w-50 for track days. I decided on this after watching my oil pressure.

^^^Ditto. I've studied this, and this seems like the best solution unless you want to pay the big bucks for Apex'i 5w50, which is pretty much the best oil you can buy....
