Any help would be appreciated with my air con problem in my 1998 Nissan Pulsar SSS.

AC makes noise (grinding/vibration) at idle, more frequently when the car is cold. This problem only happens below 1000rpm. Nissan does not know what it is, they replaced all drive belts, and put in a new compressor. The problem is now less frequent however it is still there. Has anyone else experienced anything like this in their SR 20DE equiped cars.

Not on an SR20, but my parents' 98 Infiniti I30 (VQ30DE) does the same thing, and it has since almost new. It has 66k now, but has been making noise since less than 20k. The dealer did all the things you mentioned (replaced belts twice and compressor once) while under warranty, and it didn't make any difference. The Climate Control works fine, and you can't hear it from inside the car, so we have learned to ignore it. It may just be normal for Nissan AC of that vintage.

Thanx for your help. I just hope now my car is out of waranty they don't find the problem cause i'll be pissed.

Just aslong as it is still making cold air i'll be happy though, i just wanted to be sure it wasn't going to get worse or do damage to something.
