I just got an oil change at the local Nissan because I didn't have time to do it myself. Anyways, they recommended that I have an induction flush done. It is about $100 for the service. I was wondering if there is a cheaper or an alternative way than spending the money?

I wonder if these dealers are getting together to cook these things up. My local toyota deal has a big sign up advertising an "induction flush" for 89.95. Claims to be cleaning the fule injectors, throttle body, and intake manifold. Sounds like a scam for dumping a $5 bottle of fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank. Why doncha ask 'em what exactly they intend on doing?
i think what there calling a induction flush is a kit that 3M puts out some 3 stage cleaner kit forget the name of the stuff but what they do is disconnect your fuel supply and hook it up to a little bottle that look like a spray paint can and run the car off that for a few minuets to clean the injector and clean offthe carbon and uses some throttle body cleaner for the intake and some thing else i cant remember what it is at the moment.
But anyway its just some really strong fuel system cleaner that shops use nothing special about it really. just need a specific tool kit to use the stuff

I have read that fuel injector cleaners and things like that will damage the injectors. I believe there is a TSB out for it.
