Well gang, it has begun. Today I took advantage of the 60+ degree weather to strip the front end off my '93, and to install the Autometer boost gauge:

To keep my AC, this has to be done for even a BB intercooler.

Front bumper skin, bumper support, and grille in driveway.

To use the BB intercooler, plus for my Forge intercooler which will be installed sometime in April or May, I am having almost 2" removed from the support, 25 inches across, via cutting torch.

My Autometer boost gauge now has a home.

The Autometer water temp gauge had to be moved to the parcel shelf in front of the shifter to make room for the boost gauge.

More updates as we progress. I just found a T28, and have sold my T25. So, this will add on a week or so for the T28 to get here from Wisconsin and my T25 to go to Puerto Rico (both are Forum members, btw).

Looks good Greg!

My car will also be changing soon ;)

Luis!

I saw you peeking up through the engine bay in Irwin's post. Looks like you guys were having the same fun I'm having, just on opposite sides of the continent is all.

Like Irwin....I found a T28. I sold my T25 to a Forum member in Puerto Rico, and am hoping the T28 will get here soon.

With a little cooperation from Mother Nature and a little bit of luck, I will be finished within a week to 10 days, maximum. I am taking my time, doing things thoroughly.

Plus, I've got to remove the direct-port nitrous setup, change the intake manifold, etc. at the same time. A lot of work. :)

Sounds good Greg!

Yeah we hope to be done with Irwins in 2-3 days max. We're putting in 6-7 hour days. And we have pretty much everything on hand. What kinda of fitting did you use for the oil inlet on the turbo? And are you going to use the water section? We'll keep you posted with our progress!

Good Luck,

LM

Wow, wish I had a crew like you guys. But...it's just little 'ol me. :)

As for the oil fitting....well....I have all the water/oil lines made up for a T25. Now then, I *hear* the T28s water/oil hookups are identical, as it is the same housing. IF that's the case, then mine should bolt up just fine.

I used all braided stainless 1/8th inch line and AN fittings from Earl's. The lines/fittings ran about $96 from www.ANplumbing.com

Louis Anaya can also get these for you. I found that out *after* I ordered (sorry, Louis).

Here's the list (courtesy of CharlieH98 here on the forum) :

Oil lines:
1/8 BSPT Male x NPT Female is part #4860K141 $4.11 each
( www.mcmaster.com )
1/8 NPT Male x BSP Female is part #4860K151 $5.05 each
( www.mcmaster.com ) Everything below is from ANplumbing.com...
1/8npt x 1/8npt x 1/8npt "T" Lowes $1.50
Earl's 1/8npt x -3AN adapter P/N 961603 $1.24
Earl's -3AN Female swivel to -3 Female 90deg -3 hose 44" long P/N 63011744 $26.08
Earl's -3AN to 7/16-20 brake adapter P/N 591932 $7.31

For the water lines run 1/4" hose from turbo to throttlebody
10' 1/4" superstock hose $2.42/ft
Earl's-4 AN 90deg SS hose adapter P/N 709145 $14.63
Earl's -4 AN 120deg SS hose adapter P/N 712045 $14.63
(2) Earl's -4AN x 1/4npt adapter P/N 961644 $1.38

Note: I slightly modified that setup with a different 'tee' fitting. It is an all-female fitting, so I can keep from mounting it on the block. I've heard of cracking/leaking problems if you do this, so, a piece of NOS solenoid-to-Fogger 1/8th inch line with a 3AN fitting did the trick. You probably have one or two of these laying around somewhere, Luis. :)

The 'tee' will now be on the firewall, securely mounted.

Awesome! Yeah actually we're going with the 3female T but I do have enough stuff lying around to do a "divorced" Tee like you did :) The Autometer sender looks pretty big so I can see how these fittings crack. The ones I hear of cracking are usually the cheapie brass fittings ***. But it sounds like a few extra steps for better reliability. Thanks for the part numbers! I was gonna go buy the -3 to 7/16 brake adapter tomorrow, the part number will make it much easier!

So greg I guess you will be able to determine if a t-25(bluebird) downpipe will fit a t-28 then. :)

Greg do you mean this Luis that just posted here is Luis Anaya for getting oil and water lines for Turbo. If this is you Luis, how much would it cost me to get Oil and water lines from you for me BB T25 turbo going onto my stock DE?

Wrong Louis, dude... Louis Anaya's forum name is TurboChargedSER (used to be APEXSER).

A T-28 huh Greg? Fine, no problem! HAHA! WAY TO GO, but get her together so we can have fun!

On a side note, when Matt and I left the SCCA event yesterday, I went to pass him and he decided to play with my silly ass with his 14PSI. You know whats funny? We were dead even until he hit 4th and began to barely walk me!!!!! He is bitchin about getting some S4's now. HAHA! I am bitching about getting a boost controller! ;)

David--

Yes, I will. It appears that they have the very same exhaust housing, which means the downpipe should work just fine. I will know for 100% sure within the next 7 days. :)

Jose--

Just like RaserX said....look up Louis (not Luis) Anaya aka TurbochargedSER here on the forum. He should be able to take care of you. Nice guy.

I seem to recall Andreas saying that while a t28 will bolt up to a BB manifold, it is too big to fit in there without hitting when it's on that BB Manifold. The angle of the flange on the GTi-R manifold is different or something... this thought came from deep within the recesses of my monkey brain, though, so I could be remembering wrong...

Once again, I prove to everyone that I'm an idiot . For some reason I thought you were talking about using a T28 on a t25 *manifold*. You were talking about the downpipe. Not sure how I confused that. You are using a GTi-R manifold, right?

Good luck with it all though, Greg! How far north do you travel to Autocross? I'd love to see it sometime when it's done.

Good luck with it greg!
I will be doing a very similar setup. I was wondering what computer setup you will be running? And if you come across another T-28 please let me know. I am more than likely going to get the turbo from louis. But please post up more info as your install goes underway. Good luck

He doesn't have to. I have seen it done. My friend had a T25 on his car with the BB manifold. THen he switched to a GTiR manifold and turbo and the downpipe bolted right up. He then swapped it out to an HKS GT series turbo and he was still able to use the same DPipe without any tweaking/modding.

Hope this helps.

It helps a great deal. Thank you very much Luis. :)

well, guys, found out the Forge intercooler fits in the B14 front end without cutting the bumper support. there is some trimming required for the bumper cover, and i removed my foglights so i could run the intercooler pipes through there, maximizingground clearance.

so, i guess one could say....sucks for you greg! :p

Steve--

Maybe it sucks for me right now...

...but you drive a B14, right? :p

Just returning fire with fire, my friend. It's all good.

Question... How do you support the Forge Intercooler on your B-14?? did you have to weld a custom bracket on it or did you use the bracket holes supplied on the Intercooler by Forge?? Mounting my IC this weekend...

Thanks
