I have researched this topic exhaustively but not found the answer to my question: will tranny fluid that says its good for GL-3, GL-4, and GL-5 work for our cars, or will it eat the syncros like straight GL-5? The guy at AZ says GL-5 will work, that it's just improved GL-4, which shows how much he knows about our cars. Anyway, I need to know right away so I can order GL-4 tomorrow if it's absolutely necessary.
TIA

straight from Mobil 1 website:
Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant is suitable for all automotive applications where lubricants meeting API Service GL-5, are recommended. It can also be used in rear axles where an API Service GL-4 lubricant is recommended. It should not be used in any transmissions requiring an engine oil or automatic transmission fluid, or GL-4 performance level.
