Both have spun bearings so I am going to refinish the cranks and do whatever else needs to be done to gets them working properly, but what should I do with them? I've got a 3rd motor, a good one this time :), coming for the Metro, so I don't need them for it. Neither of the motors have intake manifolds. I'd like to build them up for power the cheapest way I could, and take advantage that I have all the time in the world to deal with them. What would you do? JUN 2.2L stroker kit comes to mind, but that's EXPENSIVE. I want to build them strong, but (of course with Cheap Ben) not spend a lot of money. Can I get shorter bottom end bolts and remove the girdle? Lighten the crank? Get some GTi-R rods and 300ZX pistons? I'm open to ideas here. I wouldn't mind hearing expensive ideas, but would prefer cheap ones.

Andreas says there is a cheaper/easier way to stroke an sr20. My guess is it’s the KA24 crank. I would love for you to try it as a test fit. Anyone have a spare KA24 crank.
Maybe he will tell me I'm full of sh** and tell us how to do it right.

What do 300ZX TT pistons do for the SR20? Also the thing about the KA24DE crank sounds like a wicked idea if it could work. Is there a website with pictures/pricing of the JUN 2.2L stroker kit?

You could give me one of them...for future plans. :D
Or, you could just refinish the crank(s), freshen up the seals/gaskets/rings/valve seals, slap some good highport heads on them, and make plans. Like nitrous. :D
Just talking off the top of my head here, Ben...
Yea yea, nitrous, GTi-R rods, Swain coat the stock piston tops (if that would help any), big fuel pump, tons of nitrous, it could work :)

You could donate a valve cover and a few other small parts to me, I need some stuff...

You could rebuild the short block to factory specs then sell it to me when my 200k motor blows up. Make sure you adhere to STS rules! :D

Not saying that doesn't work....i'm also not saying i'm right....
but (i used to drive a 240) I thought that the crank in the KA motor wasn't balanced like the SR, and that the KA pulley had a harmonic balancer thingamajigger on it that kept everything nice and smooth. (which meant getting underdrive pullies for a KA wasn't the greatest idea...and pullies was the reason i had looked into it anyway).
However, I take no responsibility for this because I'm not sure and this could just be a brainfart.

personally i'd port/polish and do a multiangle valve job the head. then i'd slap some 11:1 pistons in there. of course, that's prolly more $$ than you'd wanna spend.

I'd be willing to live with a harmonic balancer if I could get a 2.2 liter sr20. Think about that in a VE!!!!!!!
