What kind of damage can happen if you are not using a bumpstop on your strut?

As long as you don't bottom out, no problem. I broke rotating mount when my springs coil-bond (coil-binded??? whatever). This is just like what would happen to you if you bottom with no bump stop.

Are you asking this because you want to run without bumpstops, or are you thinking about buying the Koni bumpstops? I don't know if you realize it, but our cars have bumpstops built in to the top of each strut boot. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, I just can't imagine why anyone would consider removing their bumpstops.

I am asking because I am a monkey. This past saturday, my car was on a lift and I noticed my drivers side rear strut was missing the bump stop. The car was lowered and had the bump stops cut in half, but now its at stock height. The last time I took my strut assembly apart, I was severely sick and must have not put that bump stop back on. I've done spring jobs many times and have never screwed up like this before. So occasionally now, I have an annoying creaking sound that comes from the back. I'm sure it is ruined now :( I'm retarded, I was stupid to work on the car when I was that sick, but I wanted to get it done. I guess I learned a good lesson..
