...it seems so easy... what am I doing wrong?

I relieved the fuel pressure (remove fuel pump fuse, turn over car for a bit).
I removed the cap, there's the injector!! plain as day!!

It wiggles but wont pop out... I even broke a piece of the plastic housing (just a little bit where the groove on the side is.

Thanks for the help,

...please tell me that I don't have to remove the rail...

also, the way that they are oriented, it's practically impossible to get the wire harness off because the tab is on the bottom

Wide flathead screwdriver pops it right out. Forget any other way people tell you. I have had some really bad advice on this. Keep the rail in the car for leverage. I know.

up high or down low?

did you use the screwdriver up high on the injector or down low?

I did mine with a Pair of pliers, wiggled it while forcing it up and it poped off no problem, The Screwdriver sounds like a good Idea Id take my changes with that less shit can break. Watch the orings when you put them back in they tend to brake at times. You'll know it cause you will idle fucked up and you will back fire a lot.

good tip, thanks... I've also read that I should put a little oil around the rings...

You should also replace the o-rings -- they're supposed to be good only for one insertion.

See my page about removing fuel injectors:

Hey Slow, thanks for the link.

I was able to pull these out with Pretty White's Big-Ass-Screwdriver Method... Thanks man!

Now, I bought my 370s from Mike Gosselin and they don't have the yellow plastic tip on them that are on my stock ones. My guess is that I need them. Am I right? If so, how do I get these off? Or can I? I'm having difficulty here, too, and don't want to break these tips.

Thanks, ya'll

Are you talking about the little plastic tip on the end of the injector? I don't think you can replace those. The dealer can't order just that tip. If you smash them, you are hosed, although I'm not sure what they do, as the nozzle has nothing directly to do with that part. Maybe it aids in the spray pattern after the fuel leaves the nozzle??

FWIW, it's a piece of cake to pull the fuel rail on a high port (pre-94) motor. Just don't be surprised if you smash the little yellow (or is it tan?) end piece if you try to press them out from the bottom.

My injectors are pretty munched up from being pulled. WD40, oil, plyers, screwdrivers, nothing make mine want to come off the rail. I always have terrible luck trying to pull fuel injectors :-(

Be sure to buy new o-rings and put a dab of oil on them, lest you get a leak (easily checked by pulling the rail).

yeah, it's that little yellow tip (actually, I just realized that it is indeed tan) that gsr mentioned smashing if you push up from the bottom. It also looks like it holds the small o-ring on, unless, once it is in the fuel rail the o-ring will stay on anyway??? It is right there where the fuel sprays from the 4 tiny pin holes.

Thanks...

okay... I think that it's because my motor hasn't ever been touched that these things were kind of a bitch to get out.

Now, what about that tan tip of the injector???

Here's the tips, check that tan piece (http://www.highlandsun.com/hyc/fuelrail/sr20fuel.ppt)

Eww, I think you're right, the tan tip keeps the bottom o-ring in place. I have specifically asked for these before and can not get them. Maybe a place that rebuilds injectors (RC Engineering maybe??) can help you out, but I'm afraid you are SOL trying to get just the tips.

Good luck!

...shit, that's gonna suck! I certainly hope that I didn't waste my money on these injectors... I thought that I was getting a good deal for around $250 for the set!

Anyone else have an idea???
