We've got a little debate going on another msg board about which stock block can handle more power. I don't know the engine code of the 1.8T, but its that vs. the SR20DE. I've seen some 400hp 1.8T's. So whats the most out of an SR20DE? Its got to be more than that, right? Please help shut up the loud mouth saab guy :)

I doubt the JUN silvia would be considered a stock block.

well i think that whats most impressive is that the 1.8t was designed as a turbocharged motor, the SR20 was made to be N/A....... the DET is even stouter

are you talking about the ca18det, if so they are supposed to handle 340-360 hp at the wheels. From what i've heard the rod's give up the ghost after that.

No, we're talking about the SR20DET.

My friend, that is a big VW guy, used to have a 1.8 NA engine in his 87 jetta. This is the block that the 1.8t was based on, according to him at least. So, I think you have it backwards. The 1.8t was originally NA. The sr20 was originally turbo. The DE just has just ups the compression a bit and removes the turbo.

Wasn't Jamie Farrer's 500+ hp run on the stock bottom end?

Also, what 1.8T's put out 400 hp? The most I've heard of was a little over 300.

Actually our beloved SR20 was designed to be turbocharged, which is why we have such a "stout" engine in N/A form.

Either way, both motors deserve their praise.
