: Maf Problem (I think...........)

ok guys i need some1s brain to help me out............ok today i went to take off my cold air intake and clean it up and painted it and all...........I didnt paint the maf or anything...........I just covered it up so dirt wouldnt get in it...........I disconnected the neccessary things.......So i go to install in and start in back up and problem.........It will start violently for like 5 secs then it will cut off........I kept trying and nothing.........U gotta kind of rev it up to keep the motor running but it still cut off...........now *** i went to take out the intake i disconnected the maf and there this sensor that was in the intake that came off when i was dissassemling it...........The idle air control sensor i belielve thats connected to something else..............The car ran like a dream ** but i connected everythin back up correctly and nothing............Then i disconnected that batt and srewed it back on 10 or 15 mins later and nothing...............do u guys think i have a shot maf or a broken idle air control sensor thingy............but heres thing also when u disconnect the maf plug from the maf and start it up in runs almost normal but when u plug it back in its shi**..................guys please help me out..............thanks

def. take a picture of the engine bay and the area of the problem and post as soon as you can

Yea thats it...............the arrow the to left is the little idle air sensor thingy that was in the intake and the one to the right is the maf sensor................I was very very carefull when i did this but maybe something got messed up

I believe the wire its self may be exposed...double check that and also did you get any water in the engine bay or on the exposed wire if possible....I know there was a crappy welding/connection job done by one of the previous owners on the piece above. His name on here was joker (something). The last owner hated that crappy placement of the sensor and so did I.

yea it runs when ever i disconnect the maf(arrow to the right) plug..........so i think its a shot maf.................**** know where i could get 1

Just make sure You don't have any vacuum hose leaks. I had this problem before, same symptoms, and found out that one of the rubber clamps was unattached. Proble fixed.

are there any aftermarket mafs for my car...............it runs fine when the maf is disconnected and idles fine but then u connect it back up it cuts off..............

can some1 please help me.........I put a new maf and the same thing...........Do the sell the brown connecter anywhere that plugs to the maf...............some1 help me
