Ok got my turbo kit installed couple days ago, got it running perfect, and been babing it around and everything (New clutch installed to, gotta break it in for 500 miles:biggthump ) But anyways, took it to my local shop to have the exhaust welded up, payed him and when i got down the street my car started running sh*tttty and white smoke was barraling out of the exhaust :eek2: Opend up my hood and sure enough there is water on my dip stick...

So was it just time for my head gasket to blow or did i f*** something up? The car never did hit full boost, mostly stayed around 5 PSI.

Should i put on a new headgasket my self or have a shop do it? I got an estiment from a speed shop down town and its going to cost $550 to do the labor. Iv never done head work and i dont want to mess something up... And of course i plan on getting a performance headgasket while its all apart, maybe even some S4 cams...

HERE are some pix of the install and finished product

if you can boost it, you CAN do the HG. get out the FSM and get to it.

Hey man, the guy that helped me pick the engine up from you knows what he is doing. He doesn't charge much for labor (like $20 an hour). You can get a metal HG from Mossy performance for $75 dollars. It is made for a VVL engine but it works perfectly on the DE engine. Here is a link: http://www.mossyperformance.com/product/?id=4632

Just call me some time, I think you have my number.

hey, just curious, did u drop the car off and leave? or did u wait while work was done. Just wondering if maybe the shop took the car for a joy ride since u said u were babying it, and thats why it started acting poorly right after u droped it off.....

Me too. I hate letting anyone touch my car, the damn alignment guy always takes my car out for a drive:squint:

But No the headgasket wont go eventually. If you take care of things and dont boost the hell out of it the headgasket should last. But if you are already putting a new one the insurance of a performance gasket is a good idea. Oh yeah, to complement that new headgasket a set of arp headstuds would insure that thing never blowing ever again.

Nice ride too, looks just like mine. Are you still using the emissions stuff, are then even hooked up? Can't tell in pics. I ditched that shit, too complicated, lol.

Is the Cometic HG better than the Metal VVL HG? I think it would be the same, and plus the VVL HG is cheaper.
