Does it come with jackstands?
Yup. The car will "rest" upon these in a garage for 2 years. Occasionally, parts will fall on and parts will fall off, but for the most part, it will be a fancy paperweight.

The rarity of parts falling on and off has more to do with the incompetence of the aftermarket, BTW.

Jim, will this car pass smog?

Yes, I just replaced the cat at the last smog and it passed with flying colors. It is totally stock engine wise, so there are no concerns there.

That's right, for the first time in 10 years, I'm Nissan-free. In fact, counting the wife's Accord V6, we're an all Honda household.

i bet you did. mind me asking why ? the dark side was to hard to resist ? that k-series is one hell of a motor.

i think the new si is a good car way to heavy though.

good luck with it.

I don't mind answering that. Basically it came down to time- I just don't have time to work on cars right now with two jobs. That is the main reason I sold the racecar. I sold the G because I didn't have time to make it a reliable, track-able vehicle.

For a new car, I had a budget of about $20k. In the end it came down to the Si or an Element, which would purely be a visiting the track type of vehicle, not going on it. Plus the Civic got better gas mileage.

In that price range there's basically the Scion tC, Cobalt SS or GTI. The Spec V is old and dated IMHO, especially compared to the Si and tC. And the new Sentra looks terrible. I wanted something that would be new, and reliable, and that I could take to the track and not have to do ANYTHING to but put in gas. I discounted the SS right away. I've owned a GM before, and it was a turd. The Cobalt may be a great car, but my bad GM experience will last forever. The GTI has no LSD, so that was out. The Scion I thought about, but with the power level, and being heavier than the Civic I ruled it out too.

My wife has an Accord V6- the first Honda I've spent a lot of time with, and as a family sedan, it is a great car. I was actually at the Honda dealership looking at an Element when my wife asked if I liked the Si.

The Si certainly doesn't drive like a heavy car. Even though at 2880 lbs it is about 300 or 400 lbs heavier than the G, it feels more nimble, faster and has better grip. Edmunds says the Si slaloms as fast as a Viper, and I can believe it. The G still has that fast-twich feel of a lighter car though, but that might be because I've got decent tires on it, and factory mud and snow tires on the Si.

The Si has a nicer interior and radio than the G (which isn't hard if you've seen my G), has side curtain airbags and will comfortable hold 2 car seats in the back if I need it to. The G is just too small to put 2 big car seats into, plus the 15 year old chassis doesn't as feel safe when I've got my son back there.

In its price range, the Civic's a tough car to beat. The SS is awesome though. I had no expectations when I took the keys to one and shot it around at Streets during a media event. Pretty amazing on track for a stock car. Not sure if I'd choose it over the Civic if I had to own it and live in it everyday though.
