The cat on my 98 SER is failing. Does anyone try to put a Random Technology cat on the 98 SER? Is it a direct bolt-on? Where can I get the cat at a reasonable price?

I have one on my car. It bolts up just like a stock converter.

It it stainless steel but it will rust so I might suggest you get it coated before you install it.

Where did you buy your cat and how much?

I bought it directly from Random Technology for about $210 give or take a few bucks.

If you are sure you need a cat I have a Randon Technology cat I will sell you for $35.00 which includes shipping.

It is 6 months old and works fine. As I mentioned before, it is stainless steel and rusts on the outside. Since I have a completely new exhaust from manifold to muffler, I bought another new Random Tech cat and had it all Jet Hot coated so it won't rust.

I'll be taking this cat off in about 3 weeks to install my new motor and exhaust so if you want it it's yours. All you would need to do is have it sandblasted and then paint it and I'm sure it would be fine.

I bought it about 6 months ago because I thought it was the reason my current motor lacks so much power. I was wrong.

This cat is a hotter item then I thought it would be.

David, since I offered it to you first I am going to give you a chance to respond before I let someone else have it.

If David doesn't respond or doesn't want it, it goes in this order:

1. Sub_Function
2. chriscar

Remember folks it's going to be several weeks before I get it off my car while I'm waiting on parts at Extrudehone, Jet-Hot, Hotshot, etc.

thanks for giving me first priority. My 98 SER can't pass emissions so I need it ASAP. If you can't ship it within next week, I'll probably have to get it from Random tomorrow. In this case, you can sell it to another member. Thanks so much.
