: det swap info
rb25sean 05-07-2006, 12:54 AM i have been searching for the last couple of hours for info on a bb det swap into a b13. there is info, but it is all scattered around many threads.
does anyone know of a swap faq or guide for swapping a det motor into a b13. seems pretty simple, would just be nice to see a definite thread.
thanks for any info.
PDX_SER 05-07-2006, 03:04 PM well im in the process of it right now, but get a jwt ecu first off, cause the bluebird ecu doesnt work, or e manage with the stock one, get a stronger clutch flywheel and motor mounts, not much else cause you can use you stock harness
rb25sean 05-07-2006, 04:12 PM the main thing i dont understand is why you HAVE to get a jwt ecu. if the engine harnesses are the same or almost, why cant you use the ecu that came with the engine, that is made for the engine. i think i have read somewhere about underdash plugs that dont match, does anyone know what these are?
Octave236 05-07-2006, 05:08 PM as long as you can match the maf and o2 to the ecu its cool. like u12 ecu with u12 maf and 02 (skinny). but you cant miss match suff unless you can program them into the ecu... (stuff like emanage) or if they are the same things just dif. engine.. like gti-r mafs is the same as an avniers mafs. i may be wrong Im sure someone will chime in if I am.

here's a couple of Crims write ups....maybe this could help....
rb25sean 05-07-2006, 10:30 PM yah i read the first one already, some good info. i think i get it now though. most people have to get jwt ecu because the motor sets dont come with maf or various other items sometimes. if all come with the motor set, then i can use the bluebird ecu and harness.
thanks for the info. if anyone has anything else to add it would be appreciated.
Ricexstacy 05-09-2006, 03:21 PM So you just use the sr20det ECu and harness w/ minor modifications or you just elongate the ka harness?

do not give out false information like that saying you cannot use the bluebird ecu... You should check the forum rules and speak from experience and not from what you read. The bluebird ecu can be used.
insane imports 05-10-2006, 04:33 AM Yes it can, i ran a bb ecu with a uk de engine 10:1 w/turbo, you will have a speed limiter and you need the right o2 sensor but it can work pretty well. Mine needed to be tuned but i limped around with it for a bit until i got the emange.
Lets not forget the 3rd axle bolt and the shaving/modifying of the oil pan.

yup, i have been using my bluebird ecu/maf for the past few weeks no problems.

B13. Not S13.

sorry, you can use the bluebird ecu, but I am finding it easier to use sr20de maf ecu and o2 with e-manage cause I dont have the right maf sensor and o2, and I have been told that sometimes its really hard to get a jdm ecu to work right.
