: Strongest Stock Motor
Trys_Hard 03-30-2002, 05:01 PM I went to the SoCal Dyno day today. My stock 92 SE-R came in at 129.9hp with 120.3ftlbs of torque. Mike K. commented that my car had the highest dyno readings he's ever seen in a Stock SE-R.
I do have a cone filter installed but it's not a pop charger which would be better. We did three pulls and all were in the high 129hp range.
Anybody else ever gotten similar numbers.
BTW this was done on the R&D Dyno which is the same used by Sport Compact Car Magazine.

Damn, that is good!!
The highest I have seen is 125hp with Funnel air filter.
Sweet!!!!!
I see you hit the 3-wheel motion.
What kind of hydraulics do you have on your SE-R?
;)
slowSER 03-30-2002, 10:55 PM Holy shiznit! 129 is awesome!
Best I've seen is 123 for Andy Turnbull's (maxQ) stock SE-R with over 120K on the odometer.
autoxer7 03-31-2002, 12:58 AM Art,
Great numbers. By far the best I've ever seen. I'm curious if you bought the car new, and if so, did you race her from day one or did you break it in slowly? There was a thread going on a while back were some people were proclaiming the best hp numbers came from cars that were revved hard and raced from day one.

I am not the original owner. The first was in the navy and always maintained the car. I have all the receipts for oil changes and routine maintenance. The second owner only had it about six months. I bought it specifically for autocrossing. At the National Tour in San Diego I bumped the timing to 17.5. At the dyno the first pull was 129.5 120.3 torque. They couldn't believe it and did a second pull 129.9 120.2 torque. They tried lower the timing 2 degrees to 15.5 and it dropped to 126.7 116.4 torque. Then 19 and it returned to 129 range. They decided to reset it to 17.5 since it was just as good. Mike K asked if it was a JDM motor but has a Symrna VIN. The car was bought in Conn.
Here is a scan of the first three runs. I hope you can read it.

Any truth to the rumor that some JDM motors were shipped to Tennessee by accident? I am the third owner and I have every receipt for any work done on the car and I couldn't find anything.
The first owner was in the Navy and drove the car in Guam and Japan. Maybe by osmosis it picked up some HP.
There is no explaining it.

Hmmm perhaps the head's been shaved a bit to up compression.
That's pretty impressive!!
As stated earlier, (on a single run...) mine was putting down 123.7 hp and 120.4 ft-lbs with 125,000 miles on the odo. Stock exhaust, stock air filter, 15° BTDC. :)

Trys_Hard 04-02-2002, 12:52 PM I don't know if it makes any difference, but I've done a lot of work on the car recently. New Motor Mounts (Stock), New Clutch (Stock) and a tune up Sparkplugs, Rotor, Cap and Fuel Filter and I run 10-30 Royal Purple. And had the transmission oil replaced.
Also a Fuel Injector Service.
I have 105k on the car.
Does anyone know what a New SE-R Dyno'd when they were new?
