I had my car up ont he lift today at a tech day. I noticed my oil pan had some very minor scrapes and dents on the leading front edge. Should I be concerned? I've heard horror stories about dented oil pans pinching off oil intake and resulting in rod knock.

Where's the oil pick up in these things?

I wouldn't be too concerned if the dents weren't large or near the middle of the pan causing it not to have a flat level bottom. If the dents are more on the ends or corners, i wouldn't be too concerned. If the dent is fairly large, all you have to do is take the pan off and bash it out w/ a hammer.

The dents are minor.
The are near the edges.
I may take my oil pan off anyway to clean it and see if I can find the missing oil (can only put in 3 quarts).
