I have a 97 200SX SER 2.0 with the tranny removed. I have been having a hard time locating the exact tranny so my car has been down since January. My uncle installed a 98 Sentra transmission I think it was a smaller size 1.6 or 1.8 something like that , but the axles began to make noises. So I guess the combination didn't work. My uncle sent the tranny back and now I am stuck without my car again. Anywho, I see that it may be possible to put another tranny in if you put the correct one with the correct axles. Can someone please help me. I would love to be able to find a list of trannys and axles that are compatable with my car. Any help you can give me would be greatly appriciated. Thank you soooooo much.. Tracey

Just find a B13 trans and drill and tap a hole for the crank angle sensor. It shouldn't be that hard to find a 99 trans. Go to a wrecking yard and tell them what you need. Not pick a part a wrecking yard.

Thanks for all your input.. my bad.. I forgot to mention that it is a Automatic. I have been researching and from what I see it is a B14 chasis. The 98 Sentra tranny fit but then the axles didn't.. I beleive the chasis was a B13 or B15.. I am sooo confused and need my car.. Again thanks for any direction. You guys RULE!!

:( can't afford it.. I have been quoted 1500-1800 without installation. Thank goodness my uncle is installing one for me.. Or I would be out of luck.. This is what I have researched.. Do you know if this willl work? What if I found a tranny that goes to a 95-98 SER 2.0, or 95-98 Sentra SER 2.0, or 98-99Sentra SE 2.0. I have found that they all use the RE4F03A tranny, the SE20DE engine, and all have b14 chasis?!?!? If all the same it should work and the axles should also be the same.. right???or is the spline different on all of them?? lol.. so manny questions.. This way my odds are greater in finding one. Because no one in so cal has been able to find a 97 200SX SER used tranny.. And if they do they want to charge an arm and a leg because it has been on the list for all the tranny shops round here (probably for my car since I have been calling everyone for 5 months now.. lol) I have heard that people are even checking the auctions for totaled cars.. eeee gads I am going crazy.. thanks again for all your help

Holy crap...1500-1800 for a rebuilt? I smell something foul, little like bullshit. I do know with some work and quite a bit of searching around you can actually do an automatic to manual swap for about that price in parts alone however that might be just a bit more work than your uncle would be happy to deal with unless he just likes tinkering...and you don't mind driving a stick (it's well worth it in foul weather but can be tedious in stop and go traffic). I only mention that last part to contrast why that price seems a bit high to me because a full auto to manual swap requires a lot more parts along with the tranny.

Any 95-97 SE-R's transmission will work in the 97. The 98 and up models will work fine as well with some coaxing. For that matter any FWD model SR20 transmission will work but you'll do less work trying to fit a 95-97 to it since you won't need to change out any axels or drill the case or anything else, in other words it will bolt right up.

95-97 is designated as a B14 chassis, above that is a B15 chassis however the 2.0 was only available in 200sx SE-R's during those years. The B15 looks a lot like the B14 (rounded corners) and the B15's only offered the 2.0 in the 4 door SE model (I think, except for 98 which was the last year of the 200sx) and the B13 (91-94) is a lot more square in the corners (very different from the B14/B15 design) and these only offered the 2.0 in the Sentra SE-R (2 door) version.

You should be able to find a used one though for a 95-97 without much trouble however being an automatic it will be a bit rare compared to the number of manuals that came with 2.0's. The trick is to find either a parts car in a junkyard or someone here on the forum who happens to have one they'd be willing to sell. If I had the cash to do the manual swap I'd sell you mine hehe.

The reason the B15 model requires a different axel despite it being more or less the same car and the same engine is because on the 91-97 model SE-R's came with a different type of differential (LSD) that required a bit more bulge out of the end of the transmission, this means that the axel on the 91-97 models had a slightly shorter axel on one side.

Anyway just keep searching and know that if you cannot find one from a 95-97 model SR20DE and you have to get one from a B13 (not bad) or B15 (better) that any problems you or your uncle has installing it you can get help here on the forum. If you decide to go for a swap to a manual transmission because they're easier to find (just more work but not really much more difficult, just more parts to install) there are tons of resources here on the forum to help you and your uncle with it. I'm sure there are more than a few people who could give you a virtual step by step and you can even get a parts list of all the parts required for the swap here (http://www.sr20trannyswap.zoomshare.com/) thanks to wes98200sxser.

You're going to have a hard time finding a B13 SR20 auto tranny because they were only offered 93-94. You'll have an easier time finding a B14 SR20 auto because they are more common than the latter. I don't see too many B15 SE's around, certainly not any wrecked ones to pull a tranny from. So stay within the B14 (95-99) 2.0L trannies, you're more likely to find one from that model.

I have been going to the junkyards lookg for manual 5 spd trannies. The past 2 times i went I saw 2 g20's each time, and all had automatics!! I think they are 130+ a 40 dollar core, but I dont trust automatics forma jy as much as I would trust a manual tranny

You are all the bomb

So how do I tell if mine is a B13,14, or 15? Thought it was a B14, but could be wrong.. How do I tell if it is a LSD?

XOXO

u tell if its lsd if u lift the front. spin one wheel, if the other side spins the same direction, its an lsd, if opposite direction, open. b13 is the 91-94 chasis, b14 95-99, and b15 2000+. Correct me if I am wrong on that, still pretty noobish when it comes to sentra's.

lol.. it's a 200SX SE-R :) but that is what I thought a B14

Is there a way to tell if I am unable to turn the wheels.. It is apart in my uncles driveway.. no tranny and no left axle..

none they will all break in the long run. The 6speed prob but it's not really proven, the gears are much larger than the 5speed box.
