: Cam power ?
Walrus FTW!!! 03-30-2002, 09:17 PM Anyone have dyno charts of some cam dynos ? before and after...I am considering putting some cams into my JDM motor since its out of the car right now before I install it. I am looking at JUN, Tomei, Toda, JWT cams at this moment.
ThomasSr20 03-30-2002, 10:03 PM JWT S4 cams
SmoothDaddyFig 03-30-2002, 10:11 PM Unforunately the "search" function is disabled right now. There is a web page with all the JWT cams and all the dynos.
If you have nothing else to do tonight try searching manually.
Its a post by M2.0DE.
Brock Stepan 03-30-2002, 10:19 PM Is there really any question? SCC has done a cam-shootout for all of the major cams available for the sr20de. Not only did the JWT S4's beat every other cam, but they are also the cheapest. The only question you might have is whether to drop big bones on the C-series JWT cams. Personally, $1000+ for cams is over the top and can be better spent elsewhere.
Go S4's.
BTW-the reason why I don't have S4's is because they were "prototypes" and not available when I bought my S3's:(
silversx 03-31-2002, 01:57 AM how much are the S4's, new? what's the idle like?
SE-Rican 03-31-2002, 09:43 AM I got my S4's through Andreas Miko. He also installed them for me. Te idle is a little radical but I honestly like it. :D And the power increase is awesome. I am very pleased. Keep in mind I am using my stock ECU. The idle will go back to normal with a JWT ECU with a S4 program!!
jacen99SE 04-01-2002, 09:28 AM I don't have it online anymore, but I can send you s3's versus stock for a 99 Sentra SE. Let me know if you want me to email it to you.
The S4 cams are also a little picky when the car is cold (below zero), and at slow speeds.
It won't stall, but it will hesitate a bit. The car doesn't like being driven in bumper-to-bumper traffic much, it's a little jerky, but nothing serious.
Walrus FTW!!! 04-01-2002, 06:12 PM Reason I'm asking about JUN cams is that I know about JWTs and their #s but no one seems to know anything about JUNs. And I can get JUNs for almost the same price as the JWT S4s. I am getting my JWT ECU programmed for the cams when I end up getting em cause I am also going 370cc injectors and Cobra MAF and the 4 Bar program.

Electro-magnetic clutch like ona AC compressor alows me to turn the blower on and off at any RPM I want for total of 11psi of boost instantly at any RPM.

Last pic of the blower all ready to be bolted to the AC compressor bracket, the outlet and inlet pipes to the blower than be turned around anywhere ya want, blower has been cleaned up in and out requires no maintenance at all.

Exactly. That's the whole problem with JUN cams. Nobody has done any scientific testing of them to know what kind of gains they produce. The JWT cams are a known commodity.

Would this be considered a super charger? I am not to sure what that is and was wondering if you can give me some more details like is it for you se-r and where can I buy one and why have I never seeen this. TAI

97 Black SER 04-01-2002, 06:51 PM I will be dynoing the JUN cams soon. Naji offered to pay for some of the dyno time. I think we will be dynoing my car with the JUN 264's 10.5mm lift then swapping in Mark Merliss's S4's to compare the gains. This will be done with a JWT ECU with the S3/s4 idle program. I think the JUN's would make more power with an ECU made for them, but I don't have the cash for a JUN ECU at the present time.
Walrus FTW!!! 04-01-2002, 08:47 PM Yo 97 Black SE-R lemme know when U get em dynoed cause I just want the BEST cams possible without buying expensive ass C3s with valve springs for 1300 bux. As far as those links yes its a supercharger, its ECU controlled- works like a AC compressor- kicks in for more power when needed. I have a few options on how to run it, JWT ECU controlled- for 400 bux extra....don't think so....S-AFC controlled- need to just wire it up- since I got a AFC it will be free....A/C switch on the dashboard which would power up the AC compressor- eassiest thing to do since I don't have AC and the supercharger resides where the AC compressor used to sit. It pushes 11psi of boost which is enough to make over 220WHP with headers, cams, pullies, exhaust, ECU. I'm shooting for 160WHP without the blower and 250WHP with the blower on. This is on a high compression Primera motor. Reason no one tried a blower on a SR20 is cause back about 4 years ago Redline PROformance tried this on a SR20 but with a diff blower and ended up blowing the engine up- it would boost at idle which is no good. My blower boosts when I want it to boost, its a OE part for Mercedes Benz SLK230 Kompressor and C230 Kompressor. Mine happens to be for the C230. I am runing a front mount IC for this off a Isuzu truck- cheapest most efficient way of cooling :D

Mindset 04-02-2002, 12:53 AM I remember reading on the main list a while back about some guys from the East Coast running JUN 272 cams with great results.
CMIIW, but dont the JUN 272 Cams w/ 10.5mm lift or 11.5mm. Though I cant remember if they need springs. I think the person using the 272 cams ran it with ZEX valve springs.
It was some time ago but if i find the thread ill post it up here.
Does anyone know the cost of the JUN CAMS?
nj1266 04-02-2002, 01:05 AM I just dynoed my car with the replacement engine that has the S4 cams. I no longer have the C3 cams and springs. Now I am running full bolt-on with the S4 cams and the JWT ECU and the S4 cams program.
The car put down 152 hp and 130 lb-ft of trque with a JDM engine. I am very happy with the results considering that the car has 2.7 deg negative camber and 1/8+ toe out. This alginment rubs about 3 wheel hp. So with a normal alignment the car would put down around 155 hp. Not bad for a bolt-on car. That is close, if not better, than the C1 cams.
The power curve was very flat and less peaky than what the C3 cams registered on the RIP low port (95-99) engine. In fact the S4s on this engine made more power everywhere over the C3s until the rpm hit 7K. then the C3s took over.
I also have a dyno chart of the S4s on the high port vs the S3s on the low port. The S4s made a bit more power (3-4 hp) power than the S3s from 2k to 3.5K. The S3s made more power in the mid range (3-4 hp). But from 6.5K on it is all S4s.
I will scan the dyno charts that i have and post them ASAP.
SR20DE_Builder 10-09-2003, 03:45 AM JUN Cams with springs cost $619 from Taka Kaira! Thats pretty cheap!

That statement isnt true Brock. Out of all the cams he listed they only tested the tomei, and JWT. The JUN, and toda's were never touched by SCC. And no one has any Dyno's of them either to compare, so you cant say that JWT wins hands down. I'm liking my HKS cams for the S13 but I cant say they are better than JWT because I cant prove it. Btw Brock how is your turbo setup I havent seen you since Ben and I did you clutch, Hell I havent even seen you post in a while I thought you we're gone. Welcome back lol ;)

how much are the S4's, new? what's the idle like?
i got mine from a group buy... $495 shipped
the idle is not 'normal'. car shakes and after 4k rpm it pulls like crazy to redline. just have to get used to it ;)

O
this means that someone was searching  :D :)
