: What Should I Do
sr20ser1997 03-31-2002, 01:36 AM I am tired of my se-r being so slow.. I have no set idea on what i really want to do with the motor.. I am into drag racing more than anything.. should i go turbo? nitrous? or just build it all motor? this is my everyday driver and i would like it to remain reliable for everyday driving and dragging on the weekends.. I have about $2500-$3000 to spend.. thanks for all your input.. i need help deciding what to do.
sr20ser1997 03-31-2002, 12:48 PM come on people.. i would like some suggestions
silverser99 03-31-2002, 03:33 PM IF you have 3 GRAND then go Turbo or VVL. If you dont want to go thru the hassles of smog or whatever then just build up your motor with JWT Nos program. 3k will get you a nice suspension setup, headers, ECU w/nos, Exhaust, pullies.
sr20ser1997 03-31-2002, 03:41 PM i could care less about emissions.. i live in florida and do not have smog tests
98sr20ve 03-31-2002, 04:02 PM Your problem is you are asking about going turbo at a very low budget. It can be done with used parts and a t25. Turbo will offer more power then anything NA except a good VE. Those are your only options because I don't care for NOS. I vote turbo because I think you would want more then even a VE had after awhile of drag racing. Only VE if you are a huge NA fan.

SmoothDaddyFig 03-31-2002, 05:35 PM The problem is you dont have enough mods done.
I see you have alot on your mind today, though.
If you want to go turbo, its going to take some patience to do it right. I would start with a DET. Then have Jay Whitely install it. :D
If you want to get instant satisaction for the time being, get a header, S4s, exhaust and pullies. and POW!! 140+ horses.
Then get the Zex Wet kit and POW!!! another instant 50-60 horses.
Pretty White 03-31-2002, 05:54 PM B14's respond well to mods. So I would go S4's or C1's, CAi, Greddy, HS Header etc. That should keep you under $2000. With change to spare. Then a 50 shot would be nice. I like turbo but it will cost you a lot more than $3000 in the long run. I have seen some B14's on the highway with bolt ons and they still fly, not turbo fast but still quick none the less.
silverser99 03-31-2002, 06:41 PM Intake cam and CAI your car takes a deep breath but has trouble blowin it out. If your in Florida Andreas sells VVL motors so you might wanna talk to him plus it would be convienant being in the same state
PSSSHHHGOESMYSR20 03-31-2002, 09:15 PM My suggestion would be to go the boosted route. I've seen GTIR set-ups go for about 900, so you can get one of those cheap and make a good amount of power to have some fun with. The only problem is the turbo is so small that the backpressure would be high at higher RPMs so your Top end would suck. But either way it would still be a kick.
sr20ser1997 03-31-2002, 10:58 PM my main concern is i want my car to be quick by this summer.. in the fall i will be moving to the d.c. area where i will be attending u.d.c. for a degree in aircraft maintenance and aircraft maintenance management..i will be up there for atleast four years and want my car to be semi respectable since i will have no time or money to modify it in the next four years.. my budget is limit to 3k so i guess ill do some shopping around and i would really appreciate more suggestions.. the more the merrier.. thanks for all of you guys' input..
Jackson Diamond 03-31-2002, 11:02 PM If you want instant mad hp on a small budget go with the basic bolt-ons and do the JWT 100 shot NOS program. That will make you car fast!:)
SERracer01 03-31-2002, 11:56 PM you want something respectible for a daily driving car, and to lay the smack down when needed to with 3k.
-JWT s4 cams- 500 something
-JWT ECU with s4 cams, and 50 shot (just in case)- $560
-JWT Nitrous kit- ???
-Hotshot headers- $400 something
-Greddy SP catback exhaust- $500-600 unless you get the hook-up
MarkSR20 04-02-2002, 08:06 AM You know what I recommend to do! The JWT ECU W/ s4 program and a 50 shot program is not 560, it is something like 8 or 900 because of the daughter board (Please correct me if I am wrong). I have prices coming to you ASAP so I will be in contact. Keep the boost thoughts alive!

Thats about $3200 with all that installed. Im pretty sure the JWT nitrous kit is $595. Or just screw the nitrous kit altogether and get GC/AGXs
2wdBlazer 04-02-2002, 03:09 PM Buy the BB motor without the turbo & Manifold. Then buy the GTiR setup to go on it. The BB would be easier to get parts for. This is the rout i'll be taking.
brian 04-02-2002, 04:28 PM or dump the Greddy idea and get something else besides that b/c the exhaust does not give you that much gain.
Chrissy 04-02-2002, 05:18 PM I say turbo! :D
Mike sr20de 04-02-2002, 05:30 PM what about just going factory bluebird? isn't this engine worth about 210 crank? with factory reliability and easy to get parts you can't lose. not monster crazy power, but respectable.
jwt ecu and your all set.
