what all companies make a stroker kit for the sr20det? is there any difference in the de, and det, specifically the gtir det?? I am thinking of doing this, any bad things about doing this I should know about before I try (besides it costing alot)

Here's one from JUN. It's a bargian. I think I will buy two so I have a spare.

1029M-N002 NISSAN SR20DET 2.2L (CRANK/PISTONS) 87.0 x 92.0 $4820.00

1029M-N004 NISSAN SR20DET 2.2L (CRANK/PISTONS/RODS) $7375.00

P.S. Somebody knows a cheaper solution but their not talking.

Toda also makes an SR20 stroker kit

Toda's kit is also right around $5k.

Why is it that stroker kits are so expensive????

You can swap a turbo engine in, rebuild an engine and put a turbo on it, do just about anything and it still comes out to cheaper then a Stroker kit. Thats harsh.

The reason they are so expensive is because it requires a new/different crank rod and piston combo. And maybe even resleeving the block. Not really your "normal" hop up parts. JUN was able to squeeze about 700hp out of their Silvia.. so it must do something right. I know that JWT is working on something too, I think Kojima mentioned it on the list a while ago. But knowing JWT I don't think it'll be much cheaper if at all than the other alternatives.

actually word on the street is the JWT kit is going to be 1/2 the price of those other kits, but still expensive

any guesstimates on how much power a stroker kit could give?

i like the idea of a bigger engine :) comon jwt! lets have it!

A 2.2 liter would give a lot more torque (think Honda's Preludes), but even if JWT made a kit half the price of the others, that's $2500 that could be much better spent on a DET or turbo kit for a DE.

true, but for those tryin' to get power au natural, that's a huge step in the right direction. not to mention (for those who are filthy rich) imagine getting stroker kit AND a FMAX stage I. OMG, i just wet myself. :D

True but from what I have read and been learning, swapping in a DET engine can get up to the price for the average person, unless they get some good deals. Also just adding on a turbo and everything associated with it brings it up near that price, again unless they get some good deals.

Then the other concern with just throwing on a turbo, is even though these engines are strong and last long, some people don't believe or trust added serious power without rebuilding an engine just to make sure. Basically a stroker kit would replace enough engine parts, that few more and you have a complete rebuilt engine that is stronger then before and a better base to start with.

The way I see it $2500 is/would be a good price for a stroker kit, over $5k hell no (at least for the average driver, not all out race).

Agree 100%. Add that $2500 to a sr16ve and you have got a great combo.

how hard would it be to do the stroker kit and a turbo package... think jwt could tune that?

how do you think JUN gets 700+ whp out of a DET? They stroke it and put on a massive turbo like a t78 or something. Go to JUN's website and read all about it :)

It's true that stroking out to 2.2 would provide you with a better base to start with, but think about the added costs that there would be on top of the kit itself. Unless you are already a mechanic, you could expect to pay a heck of a lot of money to get the kit installed, what with having to take out the whole engine and open up the block. That would be a grand easy just for the labor involved. I still think that unless you were going the all-out drag racer route, it isn't worth the money and that the money, for most people, would be better spent on a turbo. But you're right, if cost were no object, the extra displacement would be a much better platform to start from.

I already have a gtir (turbo) and am building the engine up more. I don't wanna rip it apart in another year just to put a stroker kit in, I checked a bunch of places and they are expensive, but I found a guy. the same guy I got my engine from says hecan get a toda 2.2 crank only for a 1,000 is this a decent price, I check with a regular gtir crank, and those are 700. anyone find something better?

This is a excellent price if you want a stroker motor. Can you get more then 1?

True that is a good price on the 2.2 crank, but more than likely you will need to get custom rods made(b/c of stroke length) and possibly custom pistons also. Or you can try to source The rest of the Toda kit.
My .02 cents
