: Polished Valve cover
FastNX 03-31-2002, 08:20 PM Anyone need their valve cover polished? My brother is a whiz at this shit, he does porting too, but he is still a bit inexperienced, so I dont know if anyone would be interested in that, but he can polish your valve cover till you can see your face in it for around $75. that's like 15 hours labour at least so hes working for 5 buck an hour but does an amazing job. Hes been doing work for people at work and everyone is impressed.
madburner 04-02-2002, 02:04 AM I might be interested in it. I might also know some other friends that might want to get it done. I'll see if I have any extra $$$$ kickin' around. It might not be for a couple of weeks though, is that ok?
FastNX 04-02-2002, 03:35 PM yeah, hes really flexible, it can be whenever you want. He just finished his first customer order: a DOHC neon, he ported and polished the manifold, head, as well as mirror-polished the intake runners on the outside and the valve cover. This thing looks great.
A little bit of background about my brother: hes only 16, but he has been doing research and development for team extreme motors in barrie on shifter kart motors. He ports them as well as researching different angles/designs fot the cylinder transfer-port finish (only in 2 strokes). He is an outstanding racer and a very dedicated craftsman i guess you can say when dealing with motors. He turned our 4-wheeler into a torquey, wheel-spinning monster. He is doing this work to help support his racing career; a full year of shifter kart racing costs about $50 000. He has sponsors for his karts, motors and race gas but still needs to buy all the other odds and ends like race fees and tires. If all goes well you will see him in the Formula 2000 circuit for the 2004 circuit.
I hope to get some pics of his work to post here.
CanadianG 04-23-2002, 06:48 PM I need to get my wheels reefinished. They are G20 factory rims and they were polished but the clear coat from nissan seem s to be peeling away. If he can do my rims I'd be willing to pay some loot
FastNX 05-01-2002, 12:51 PM he said he is interested in polishing the wheels but he does not want to screw anything up so he would like to see them before comittingto do them. could you post a digital pic?
P.S. he just finished puttinga weed-whacker motor on a scooter, that thing flies!
CanadianG 05-01-2002, 01:02 PM I will try n take a pic later on today or at worse case this evening
Crono1321 05-08-2002, 06:29 PM I would love to get my valve cover polished...its just that I think that means I woud have no car until I got it back, right? Unless I can find a cheap one anywhere...any suggestions my friends?
Crono1321 05-08-2002, 06:30 PM also, my valve cover has some oil stains on it I can't get off...do those come out with the polish job?
FastNX 05-08-2002, 07:18 PM also, my valve cover has some oil stains on it I can't get off...do those come out with the polish job?
No guarantees, but I'm quite sure they would come out. If you want a second opinion on what the final product will look like, ask any of the canadian folks like bensa, NX2K, madburner, loe lyf, etc. after saturday
Crono1321 05-08-2002, 10:05 PM Alright thats cool. Um I don't really have a spare valve cover around right now, and don't have the time to let my car sit in the garage for two weeks right now, but when I do have the opportunity, do you think he would do it? It would probably be awhile. Like late summer...
Crono1321 05-08-2002, 10:07 PM The guys who are getting it done now...what are they doing with their cars? Just waiting? Do you think if I like...express mailed it to your bro, he could get it done quick? I just go to school and work at nights, and I know no one that lives around me who works w/ me...so I can't really be w/out a car and buying another valve cover seems a bit wasteless unless I could get a really good deal on it..does your brother have any laying around that he could polish and then I could trade him mine and send the money as well?
FastNX 05-08-2002, 10:10 PM What year is the car? Do you know if all SR20 valve covers are the same? P.S., I'm in Canada, so
1.shipping may take longer
2. $75 canadian is less than $50 US, one hell of a deal!!! I'll see what I can do.............
Crono1321 05-08-2002, 10:13 PM My car is a 1996 200sx SE-R, and yes I think all the valve covers are the same for the SR20DE. I forgot we were talking Canadian bucks...err..whatever you use. Thats really good price. Get back with me I'm pretty interested, I just don't like the fact I would have to wait for so long, ya know?
FastNX 05-08-2002, 10:24 PM I wil try to get a spare SR20DE valve cover so you have no downtime but no promises. I will check with the wreckers and see what i can do.........
I have been recently scammed for $200 in a shoddy intake deal and am very wary of exchange of money/good through the mail so i'm a bit iffy if you know what i mean
Crono1321 05-08-2002, 10:33 PM Awww you would do that alllll just for little ol' me? I'm flattered. Don't worry I've been raped on eBay before, so I know what its like to have someone screw you over. Hey, if you get the valve cover, do I have to buy that one too, or what is the deal? Just let me know I'm down with anything you wanna do, as long as it doesn't get insanely expensive, or expensive, for that matter! :)
madburner 05-14-2002, 10:51 PM I can attest from seeing his brother's work first hand that he does an amazing job!!!!
Crono1321 05-16-2002, 02:39 PM Its ok now you can stop looking for the old vc...if you still were. I have taken mine off and am trying to polish it myself. It is turning out pretty good I think! I just have a question...does anyone know how to get in between the letters to polish it? I have the entire cover sparkling except for inbetween the letters, like where it says "Nissan." Thanks for the help.
