: volumetric efficiency?

hey all you technical gurus I am doing a 204sx tech. school project for my automotive club. I am trying to find the right turbo size for mid-top end perfomance. the problem is I need the correct volumetric efficiency of the sr20 red top in stock form to do my calculations. I know im going to hear "disco potato", but that defeats the learning oppurtunity provided. Also when the engine gets cammed (not to mention ext.) i was wondering if it would be sensible to modify the volumetric efficiency figures, and if so how would I go about finding it. We would be looking to make about 350-400hp at the flywheel, and the car would be geared towards circuit style racing.

thanks

The turbo you choose will change volumetric efficiency (heck even what rpm you are at will change the VE). It will typically be between 80 and 90% though. You can also calculate VE if you have a bunch of values (injector flow rate, pressure ratio, etc.). Here is how to do it: http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB9&Number=67245822&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
