I have 93 SE-R with auto. Anyone else have one? Is there a way to improve the shift program on this thing?

i know there is a guy on the forums somewhere that i know of with a 95 200sx se-r that is automatic... I believe you can get a torque converter and make the shifting a lot better... I'm not all sure if they make a torque converter for a 200sx, i heard about an altima guy using it for his automatic Altima.

All 91 and 92 SE-Rs were manual. Unless he converted it to an auto, its not a 92...or an SE-R

well there was this one mythical one on the list or something a long time ago that was in Hawaii. Like the se-r with power windows down there. But no shouldnt be a 92 or an auto unless its been converted. only 93 up got that unlucky option.

Don't bother getting one if its automatic. No offense to auto owners but my ex gf had one and it was no where near as fun to drive as mine. Same year car too.

I started off with an automatic 97 200sx se-r and I hated it b/c I knew there would be more potential when it was 5-speed. Thank God that I got one

can't help but to take offense

it may seem like nothing to sum owners but to me it just gets under my skin when people say DONT GET A AUTO or i sold mine for a 5 speed. this is why i dont post much any more about what i have done to my car and the mods i am still doing.i have had my 94 auto for 5yr and i still love the car. living in Houston and now New Olreans the auto is pretty good in day to day traffic and with the BB its better. i am not in to drag racing or autocrossing any more but when i did drag race there where some i won and some i lost but i still had fun doing it

the auto was not made untill 93 and up

Sorry buddy. I'm sure the Auto is cool with the turbo. I think most however would agree that 5 speed is a lot more fun to drive no matter what kind of racing or driving they do.

I used to have a '93 SE-R with an auto and honestly, it was still fun to drive, not so much stock, but with mods. It actually made drag racing a lot easier, too. I won a number of bracket races because my consistency and reaction times were almost perfect every time. I do love my '92 with the manual, though, and it does feel much faster.

Autos are fun to drive and I think that in rush hour, even funner (if it's called fun). I really wish my daily driver, XE, was auto like my SE-R...because...every time I get home I feel like killing some one/thing due to all the d@mn shifting. Seems like I always catch every redlight too.

As for autos, I think that the little pwr/at/cft button is cool. How many SE-R owners can say they have that? So, what can you do to improve an auto? Look in the archives, it's all there. Level 10, ECU, and turbo are a few words that come to mind. The Level 10 auto is a great place to start for improvement, although costly, and then all the usual SE-R mods that are common.

I hear you Lionel, I also don't post what I have, or even talk about it for that matter, due to others opinions of the auto.

Also, everyone is right, in 1991-92 no autos, 1993-94 autos were built but very few. BTW, the largest number of SE-R's were built in 1993.

I got an auto in my 99Se-L and yeah I miss having a stick but the engine is still the SR20 yeah it used to shift before 7k rpm but after that JWT ECU was installed its a lot better. I didnt go the level ten route because they charge mucho$$ I just put some mobil 1 synthetic tranny fluid and put a tranny cooler and that allowed me to smoke those pesky blue civic Si
