Hi guys,

Im from NZ and having a damn hard time trying to find a wideband gauge like the ones you get over there, id rather not import one as freight makes things too expensive, I did stumble across this one though, and wondered if anyone on the forum had any ideas/opinions on their products..

http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/lm1.php

Its readily available in NZ and im keen to buy it, depending on your replies really

That is one of the most common state side...

I personally don't use one but have only heard good things about them. I use zeitronix... which uses the same oxygen sensor.

as far as i know the best ones to get are aem (i have one), inovative, or the zeitronix ones.
all great setups.

Ok can I please ask for a little more advice?

Im about a week away form ordering the above wideband, And when I get it, ill also install my AVCR boost controller..

Will I also need a fuel controller (SAFC II?) to safely turn the boost up? Or can I just turn up the fuel pressure on the FPR if the wideband tells me its running lean??

Sorry, still a bit of a beginner, Cheers!

If you can get the LM1 easily, get it, its a great unit.

I would just turn the boost up a bit and make sure the wideband doesnt go lean. What ECU are you running?

Its the *only* one I can find in NZ! NZ guys are fairly rough/careless when it comes to turning boost up, Iv had soo much shit for only running 7psi till I get a wideband!

Im running stock standard Gtir ECU, out of my Gtir funnily enough..!

im running the lm-1, great unit with alot of features that i dont even use. Its a bit bulky to hideaway though.

Only downfall of the LM1 is the bulky size of the unit. It is really great for logging, narrow band output and tons of sensing, but for size it sucks. The AEM doesn't have as many features as the LM1 by a long shot, but it is very small and easy to mount/use. It is also pretty cheap!

Thats what I like to hear! Size doesnt worry me, just want good equipment!

So youd all agree then that a fuel controller is un-necasary if I have the lm-1?

Also, I noticed the connection to a pc/laptop isnt usb, its a serial port, do all computers come with that port or should I budget for that too?

Thanks again!

mmm the lm-1 has nothing to do with the fuel controller. Youll still need it if you plan on adjusting anything.

Just buy a serial-usb adapter, works great for me.

If you're still using the stock ecu, you should be able to turn up the boost until you run out of fuel injector or MAF. You need something to monitor the injector duty cycle and also the MAF voltage. I'm going to GUESS that's about 11psi... but, uh, don't turn up the boost until you can measure those two things!

you think it will run out at 11psi? ehhh, What he needs is a techtom or something to just watch the voltage on the MAF and the Inj duty cycle

Gtirs here and in the UK run 15 psi with just a walbro 255, all day everyday.. And thats the highest ill plan on going and I have alot more than just the fuel pump imho!

Just checked the user manual on my avcr, that can monitor injector duty (Yay!), and im sure that standard maf is good for 350bhp? I wont be making that sort of power without a rebuild lol..

On the stock 444cc injectors you should be more than fine. My 370cc at 4bar fuel pressure flow something like 427 and that is good for 300whp. EDIT: though 300whp on 427cc is really pushing it.

Oh ok thats good info cheers! About the whole 4bar thing, would I be right in thinking then, that I could turn up my fuel pressure and acheive the same results as say, 500cc injectors?

You have the topfeed injectors witht the gtir, but in essence, you can do the same thing with any injector, you just have to have an ECU that is programmed for it. I believe it does not work well with some though (MSD If I remember correctly).

Oh ok.. May look into that then if I start to lean out, bound to be cheaper than new injectors..

Thanks for ya help!
