Ok, i posted a week back saying i did the headswap with a us spec head and j-spec bottom end because I had blown the other parts fo the two...and I messed around with it again...plugged up the nitrous holes...got all the hoses in the right place and heres what I have: It starts and idles...heats up fine, will run for hours, it just sounds like a loud go-cart literally. I drove it around and it was powerful (im not sure how much compared to if it was running in perfect shape) but it was running pretty damn good ( I didnt take it above 4 or 5 grand just in case). Anyways, the car seems fine besides it sounds as if the timing was off or something. It just sounds loud and "old volkswagen beetle race car at the drag strip" obnoxious and when you give it gas it really putts JUST like a go cart does. Do you guys know that if the chain was off a link or something if the car would even run? What could be the problem...what suggestions, also doen it sound like the intake or exhaust is off?

Make sure there's no exhaust leaks. If the cams slipped on the sproket, it would have a funky power band, and possibly not have a lot of power.

FWIW, it would have been easier to swap the whole motor than just the head.
